Kata persekusi kini mulai banyak lalu-lalang di berbagai media, baik media cetak, media daring, maupun media sosial. Apa sebenarnya persekusi itu?
Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia daring, persekusi adalah sebuah kata kerja yang berarti pemburuan sewenang-wenang terhadap seseorang atau sejumlah warga dan disakiti, dipersusah, atau ditumpas.
Sebuah media menulis telah terjadi 47 kasus persekusi daring selama 2017.
Kasus penodaan agama dengan terdakwa Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama menjadi pintu gerbang untuk kasus-kasus persekusi daring. Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network (SAFENET) mencatat telah terjadi 47 persekusi terhadap akun-akun media sosial yang dituding menghina agama atau ulama di media sosial.
Kasus-kasus ini sudah menyebarluas secara merata di seluruh Indonesia dan menarget orang-orang dari berbagai latar belakang. Salah satu yang ramai dibicarakan adalah seorang dokter bernama Fiera Lovita di Solok, Sumatera Barat.
“Ada instruksi massa untuk memburu target yang sudah dibuka identitas, foto, serta alamat kantor atau rumah,” kata Koordinator Regional Indonesia SAFENET Damar Juniarto saat dihubungi Rappler pada Ahad, 28 Mei 2017. Setelahnya, orang-orang akan mendatangi -atau lazim disebut menggeruduk -alamat yang tertera untuk dibawa ke polisi.

Kasus persekusi terbaru yang menggegerkan media sosial adalah kasus penghinaan terhadap Habib Rizieq Syihab yang dilakukan remaja berusia 15 tahun dari Cipinang Jakarta Timur.
Tanggal 20 Mei 2017, M mengaku mengunggah postingan yang dianggap menghina sebuah ormas dan pemimpinnya. Salah seorang netizen sudah memperingatkan baik-baik agar postingan tersebut dihapus. Alih-alih menghapus, M malah balik menantang dan memberikan nama dan alamat rumahnya.
Tanggal 26 Mei 2017 postingan M menjadi viral.
Tanggal 29 Mei 2017, M dibawa oleh sekelompok orang yang diduga anggota sebuah ormas ke pos RW. Di dalam ruangan tersebut M diminta mempertanggungjawabkan pernyataannya.
Pada tanggal 1 Juni 2017, polisi mengevakuasi M dan keluarganya dengan alasan M dan keluarganya telah mendapat intimidasi dari pihak ormas tersebut.
Selang beberapa jam kemudian, kedua pemuda yang dituding menjadi pelaku persekusi yang masing-masing berinisial M dan U warga Cipinang Muara, Jakarta Timur dijemput oleh polisi, setelah orangtua M membuat laporan ke pihak kepolisian.

Serangan itu bahkan tak hanya terhadap kelompok Islam dan para ulamanya, namun bahkan terhadap TNI dan aparat penegak hukum semacam KPK juga.
Sebut saja kasus persekusi yang dialami oleh Fahri Hamzah di bandara Sam Ratulangi. Atau serangan berupa penyiraman air keras yang dialami penyidik senior KPK yang hingga hari ini tak berhasil menyeret satupun nama sebagai terduga pelaku.
Atau ancaman pembunuhan beberapa tokoh Islam yang dilakukan oleh seorang warga Surabaya yang ketika berusaha diproses secara hukum, berkas laporannya bahkan hilang di tangan pihak kepolisian.
Polisi terkesan lamban dan malas menanggapi laporan umat terkait serangan-serangan tersebut.
Sebaliknya, jika pelakunya umat Islam, polisi begitu sigap dan cekatan. Bahkan bila perlu, ciduk dulu, barang bukti menyusul.
Seorang netizen menegaskan, jika saja aparat keamanan bersikap tegas dan adil dalam menyelesaikan berbagai kasus hukum yang dilaporkan masyarakat, tentu tak ada satupun warga yang ingin menyelesaikan perselisihan melalui persekusi.
