Mengadili perkara seseorang dalam pengadilan tentu bukan profesi yang mudah. Butuh ketegasan dan kekuatan hati saat harus menjatuhkan vonis hukuman kepada pelaku kejahatan. Namun rupanya tugas negara sebagai hakim menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi Jumiati Alim (29).
Sebagai wanita, Jumiati Alim dituntut untuk menjadi hakim yang adil namun tak boleh memperlihatkan sisi emosional saat di persidangan. Meski demikian, wanita yang akrab disapa Mimy ini mengaku bahwa menjadi hakim adalah passion yang dijalaninya sepenuh hati.
Sejak menamatkan sekolah di SMA Negeri 1 Makassar, tahun 2005 silam, Mimy memang tertarik untuk mendalami dunia hukum. Namun saat itu keinginannya bukan menjadi hakim, melainkan pengacara. Namun seiring berjalannya waktu, Mimy merasa prihatin terhadap komentar negatif masyarakat yang sering menganggap hukum di Indonesia tidak adil.
“Sejak saat itu saya berfikir kalau ingin hukum ditegakkan, berarti hakimnya harus adil. Kalau mau hakim adil, saya sendiri harus berusaha jadi hakim yang adil. Karena saya percaya perubahan itu harus selalu dimulai dari diri sendiri,” kata Mimy mengawali ceritanya.
Bertekad untuk menjadi seorang hakim, Mimy kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan strata satu di Fakultas Hukum Universitas Hasanuddin. Ia kemudian mendalami ilmunya lewat sekolah pasca sarjana di Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia.
Setelah lulus kuliah, Mimy kemudian mengikuti seleksi CPNS pada tahun 2011 di Pengadilan Negeri Depok. Ia kemudian memulai kariernya setelah diterima oleh Mahkamah Agung sebagai calon hakim di Depok, Jawa Barat. Barulah setelah itu ia dilantik sebagai hakim di Pengadilan Negeri Jeneponto sejak September tahun 2014 lalu hingga sekarang.
Kecintaannya pada dunia hukum juga membuatnya rela menjadi seorang hakim di daerah ‘pelosok’ Sulawesi Selatan. Kini, Mimy ditugaskan di Pengadilan Negeri Jeneponto. Lokasi Jeneponto tidak begitu jauh dari Makassar, hanya berjarak 90 kilometer atau sekitar 2 jam perjalanan dengan mobil.
Di balik sikap tegas menyelesaikan perkara di ruang sidang, Mimy memiliki keprihatinan terhadap ratusan kasus yang telah ditanganinya. Suka duka menjadi penegak hukum telah ia alami. Mulai dari kasus penganiayaan hingga pembunuhan. Sementara kasus yang marak terjadi di Jeneponto menurut Mimy adalah kasus perkelahian sesama perempuan dan narkotika.
Putri bungsu mantan Hakim Konstitusi, Dr. Muhammad Alim, S.H., M.Hum. dan Rospati ini menuturkan banyak kasus yang membuatnya merasa terenyuh. Dari sekian kasus yang pernah diselesaikannya, ada satu kasus yang pernah membuatnya berderai air mata. Pada 2015 lalu, ia menjatuhkan vonis hukuman 1 tahun 8 bulan penjara kepada lelaki berusia 92 tahun.
“Perkara penganiayaan berat yang dilakukan kakek itu. Saat itu sedang bulan Ramadan. Saya bener-bener nahan air mata pas bacain putusannya, apalagi setelah baca putusan terdakwa berkali-kali minta maaf dan bilang kalau dia nggak mau lebaran di penjara dan nggak mau mati di penjara. Duh rasanya sedih tapi itulah konsekuensi kerjaan saya,” beber Mimy.
Mimy mengungkapkan upaya suap menyuap memang belum sepenuhnya lepas dari dunia hukum. Seringkali, ia mendapatkan penawaran dari orang-orang terdekat hingga kalangan pejabat kala menangani sebuah kasus.
“Cukup sering saya alami dan kalau gitu saya senyum saja dan bilang nanti lihat fakta-fakta di persidangan. Kalau itu teman saya, saya nggak akan angkat teleponnya dan nggak mau ketemu lagi di luar sidang. Tapi setelah itu saya berkomunikasi dan menyampaikan maaf. Bukan karena sombong tapi demi menjaga profesionalitas saja,” cerita Mimy saat dihubungi brilio.net, Jumat (21/4).
Meski perempuan, semangat Mimy untuk menjalani profesi hakim tak pernah padam. Ia mengaku bahagia menjadi seorang hakim dan selalu merasa lega setiap kali membacakan putusan. Padahal tak dipungkiri bahwa ia seringkali mendapat intimidasi dari massa sidang.
“Mulai dari pihak yang berusaha mendekati secara halus untuk mempengaruhi putusan hakim, ada juga yang berusaha mengintimidasi dengan membawa massa, sampai pihak yang secara terang-terangan mengancam akan membuat keributan. Tapi saya bawa santai saja. Hidup saya kan Allah yang atur, jadi kenapa harus takut sama manusia,” ujarnya.
Besar harapan Mimy agar hukum di Indonesia menjadi lebih baik dan sebagai seorang wanita ia juga berpesan kepada para perempuan untuk jangan pernah berhenti berusaha dan berdoa untuk mewujudkan cita-cita. “Jangan takut menjadi berbeda dan jangan pernah menyerah walau pernah gagal, karena orang-orang hebat tidak dilahirkan dari kemudahan,” tutur dia.

Sebagai wanita, Jumiati Alim dituntut untuk menjadi hakim yang adil namun tak boleh memperlihatkan sisi emosional saat di persidangan. Meski demikian, wanita yang akrab disapa Mimy ini mengaku bahwa menjadi hakim adalah passion yang dijalaninya sepenuh hati.
Sejak menamatkan sekolah di SMA Negeri 1 Makassar, tahun 2005 silam, Mimy memang tertarik untuk mendalami dunia hukum. Namun saat itu keinginannya bukan menjadi hakim, melainkan pengacara. Namun seiring berjalannya waktu, Mimy merasa prihatin terhadap komentar negatif masyarakat yang sering menganggap hukum di Indonesia tidak adil.
“Sejak saat itu saya berfikir kalau ingin hukum ditegakkan, berarti hakimnya harus adil. Kalau mau hakim adil, saya sendiri harus berusaha jadi hakim yang adil. Karena saya percaya perubahan itu harus selalu dimulai dari diri sendiri,” kata Mimy mengawali ceritanya.
Bertekad untuk menjadi seorang hakim, Mimy kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan strata satu di Fakultas Hukum Universitas Hasanuddin. Ia kemudian mendalami ilmunya lewat sekolah pasca sarjana di Fakultas Hukum Universitas Indonesia.
Setelah lulus kuliah, Mimy kemudian mengikuti seleksi CPNS pada tahun 2011 di Pengadilan Negeri Depok. Ia kemudian memulai kariernya setelah diterima oleh Mahkamah Agung sebagai calon hakim di Depok, Jawa Barat. Barulah setelah itu ia dilantik sebagai hakim di Pengadilan Negeri Jeneponto sejak September tahun 2014 lalu hingga sekarang.
Kecintaannya pada dunia hukum juga membuatnya rela menjadi seorang hakim di daerah ‘pelosok’ Sulawesi Selatan. Kini, Mimy ditugaskan di Pengadilan Negeri Jeneponto. Lokasi Jeneponto tidak begitu jauh dari Makassar, hanya berjarak 90 kilometer atau sekitar 2 jam perjalanan dengan mobil.
Di balik sikap tegas menyelesaikan perkara di ruang sidang, Mimy memiliki keprihatinan terhadap ratusan kasus yang telah ditanganinya. Suka duka menjadi penegak hukum telah ia alami. Mulai dari kasus penganiayaan hingga pembunuhan. Sementara kasus yang marak terjadi di Jeneponto menurut Mimy adalah kasus perkelahian sesama perempuan dan narkotika.
Putri bungsu mantan Hakim Konstitusi, Dr. Muhammad Alim, S.H., M.Hum. dan Rospati ini menuturkan banyak kasus yang membuatnya merasa terenyuh. Dari sekian kasus yang pernah diselesaikannya, ada satu kasus yang pernah membuatnya berderai air mata. Pada 2015 lalu, ia menjatuhkan vonis hukuman 1 tahun 8 bulan penjara kepada lelaki berusia 92 tahun.
“Perkara penganiayaan berat yang dilakukan kakek itu. Saat itu sedang bulan Ramadan.
