Dalam salah satu taushiyahnya Sayyidul Auliya Syaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani pernah membagi 4 Macam Golongan Manusia. Pertama, Mereka Yang Hati Dan Lisannya Mati. Kedua, Mereka yang mati hatinya namun lisannya bercerita. ketiga mereka yang kelu lidahnya, tetapi hayat hatinya. dan terakhir mereka yang berilmu dan berkarya sesuai ilmunya.
Lantas bagaimanakah cara kita mengkondisikan dunia batiniah kita yang berada di dalam serta menghbungkannya dengan aktifitas keseharian lahiriah? Dalam nasehatnya Syaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani seolah menumpukan kondisi ini pada tiga hal, hati, lisan dan karya. Kondisi hati harus senantiasa hidup dan aktif, sedangkan kondisi lisan sebaiknya selalu pasif dan mati, sedangkan badan harus selalu berkarya dan berkreasi.
Dalam salah satu wasiatnya sebagaimana dinukil oleh Syikh Nawawi Al-Bantani dalam Nashaihul Ibad, Sayyidul Auliya Syaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jailani pernah berpendapat bahwa tipe manusia dapat dibagi dalam empat kelompok besar:
Pertama,
yaitu kelompok manusia yang tidak berlidah dan tidak berhati merekalah para pendurhaka kepada Allah. Maka janganlah kita sampai tergolong seperti mereka, apalagi berteman dengannya. Karena merekalah penghuni sah neraka.
Kedua,
yaitu golongan yang memiliki lisan tetapi tidak berhati. Mereka berbicara dengan manisnya hikmah namun tidak mengamalkannya. Bahkan mereka mengajak orang-orang untuk menuju Allah swt. Tetapi mereka sendiri malah menjauhkan diri dari-Nya. Kepada mereka Syaikh Abdul Qadir mewanti-wanti kepada jangan sampai terbujuk keindahan rangakaian katanya yang dapat membakar mu bahkan dapat pula kebusukan hatinya membunuhmu.
Ketiga,
yaitu kelompok memiliki hati tetapi tidak berlisan, merekalah orang mukmin yang disembunyikan Allah swt dari orang lain, serta Allah jaga matanya dengan perasaan hina akan dirinya sendiri. Kepada hati kelompok inilah Allah memberikan cahaya, sehingga mereka mengerti dampak bergumul (terusmenerus) dengan sesama manusia serta bahayanya banyak bicara. Mereka inilah kekasih (wali) Allah swt yang senantiasa disembunyikan Allah (dari khalayak ramai).
Keempat,
yaitu orang-orang yang belajar dan mengajar dan beramal dengan ilmunya itulah orang-orang yang mengerti kebesaran Allah. Oleh karena itulah menitipkan dalam hati mereka berbagai ilmu dan pengetahuan dan juga Allah lapangkan dadanya guna menerima titipan-titpan pengetahuan tersebut.
Maka kepada kelompok terakhir ini jangan sampai kita menjauhinya apalagi menentangnya. Bahkan kalau perlu sering-seringlah mendekatinya agar mendapatkan nasihat yang berguna.
Demikianlah empat macam golongan manusia hasil pengkelompokan Syiakh Abdul Qadi al-Jailani. Tentunya pengelompokan ini merupakan hasil penelitian yang cermat dengan berbagai pertimbangan dhahir dan bathin. Mengingat beliau sebagai seoang sayyidul auliya yang mengetahui dengan persis karakter manusia-manusia yang dicintai maupun dibenci Allah swt.
Selanjutnya Syaikh Abdul Qadir menutup nasihat dan hasil penelitiannya ini dengan sebuah penekanan yang berbunyai:
Ketahuiah bahwa pokok-pokok ajaran zuhud adalah menjauhi berbagai hal-hal yang dilarang (haramkan) Allah swt, baik yang besar maupun kecil. Serta menjalankan berbagai kewajiban (faraidh) baik yang mudah maupun yang susah. Serta menyerahkan urusan dunia kepada para aahlinya (yang berekepentingan) baik urusan kecil maupun urursan besar.
Keterangan penutup ini seolah memberikan isyarat kepada kita semua bahwa zuhud bukanlah sesuatu yang berat dan spesial yang hanya bisa dilakukan orang-orang tertentu. tetapi zuhud adalah laku alamiah yang dapat dicapai dengan berlatih dan berlatih memulai dari hal yang kecil. Zuhud tidak semata bersifat penghindaran, tetapi juga bersifat pelaksanaan. Dengan melaksanakan berbagai kewajiban syariah sama artinya dengan melatih diri membisakan zuhud.
Dari keterangan di atas marilah kita meraba diri kita sendiri, termasuk ke dalam kelompok manakah diri ini. Janganlah kita menilai orang lain dengan mengelompokkan dalam kelompok yang buruk. Karena menganggap orang lain lebih buruk dari diri kita adalah suatu keburukan sendiri.
