Dokter meyakini Neysi Perez mungkin saja saja alami serangan kuatir yang cukup kritis dan buat aktivitas jantungnya berhenti sebentar. Hipotesis lain yakni remaja itu alami serangan cataplexy. Dimana manfaat otot mendadak berhenti. Biasanya dipicu karena stimulus emosional yang kuat seperti stres atau takut.
Ia mungkin saja saja lalu meninggal dunia karena kekurangan oksigen setelah terbangun di dalam peti mati yang tertutup.
Sepupu gadis itu, Carolina Perez mengemukakan saat mengangkat tubuh saudaranya ia meletakkan tangannya di tubuh Neysi dan rasakan tubuh saudaranya itu masih tetap hangat.
" Ada goresan di dahi dan jari-jarinya tampak memar. Ia seperti berusaha untuk keluar dari dalam peti dan melukai dirinya, " cerita Carolina.
Ibu Neysi Perez, Maria Gutierrez meyakini bila putrinya dikubur hidup-hidup dan menyalahkan petugas medis yang amat cepat mengatakan putrinya meninggal dunia.
" Dia tidak terlihat seperti meninggal dunia. Bahkan sehari setelah dimakamkan tubuhnya masih tetap normal. Mayatnya tidak mau dan ia tampak seperti tidur nyenyak. Tubuhnya masih tetap fleksibel. Itu tidak mungkin apabila ia sudah wafat berjam-jam, " sebutnya.
" Saya fikir kami akan memperoleh anak kami kembali, " sesalnya
