Tiba-tiba mereka merasa merinding. Jenazah seperti beralih dari menghadap arah kiblat. Dia mengaku melihat jelas gerakan si mayit, sehingga mereka melompat keluar rumah karena takut.
Tapi mama Kakty mencegah mereka agar tetap di tempat karena amanah menjaga jenazah almarhumah. Mama Kakty minta mereka membetulkan arah arah jenazah. Dan, orang-orang memberanikan diri masuk lagi dan mencoba mengarahkan jenazah menghadap kiblat.
Mereka mendorong bagian tengah tubuh jenazah. Tapi tiba-tiba tali kafan terputus. Tali itu kemudian diikatkan lagi, dan ramai-ramai mendorong jenazah agar menghadap kiblat. Tapi beratnya minta ampun. Setelah beres, mereka buru-buru menuju pintu untuk keluar tanpa banyak bicara tentang kejadian tadi.
Berikutnya orang sebelah rumah Kakty yang dapat giliran jaga. Orang-orang yang jaga sebelumnya tak bercerita tentang keanehan itu. Tak sampai sepuluh menit orang yang mendapat giliran jaga berikutnya itu mengetuk rumah Kakty.
Katanya, mereka melihat jenazah berada di dapur. Kakty dan keluarganya tentu saja tidak percaya, tak mungkin jenazah bisa bangun.
Rupanya maksud penjaga itu, jenazah tetangga itu bukan bangkit tapi berbaring di dapur. Dia menantang keluarga Kakty untuk melihatnya sendiri. Saat melihat ke dalam, mereka melihat jenazah di ruang tamu. Mereka kemudian memanggil anak almarhumah dan menceritakan kejadian-kejadian aneh tersebut.
Anaknya tak percaya. Malah memaki-maki warga yang mengurus jenazah sang ibu. Dia bilang para tetangga itu hanya beralasan karena tak mau jaga jenazah ibunya. Malas adu mulut, para tetangga pun pulang. Tinggal sang anak dan jenazah ibunya di rumah itu.

Tapi para tetangga tetap prihatin, dan menjenguk keluarga yang berduka itu. Tapi kejadian-kejadian aneh yang dialami semakin parah.

Saat datang, anaknya mengunci rumahnya sementara dia membeli makanan. Namun saat balik ke rumah, nasi berserakan di dalam dapur. Rumah pun berbau busuk.
Sang anak melihat jenazah ibunya bergerak-gerak. Ustaz bilang ibunya kemungkinan mengamalkan ilmu hitam. Anaknya kadang melihat ibunya duduk menyuapi orang di dapur. Tapi dia tidak tahu siapa yang disuapi itu.
Ustaz pun membaca ayat-ayat Alquran. Begitu tali pocongnya dibuka, semua orang terkejut. Muka jenazah itu biru. Setelah itu ustaz menyiramnya dengan air mawar sehingga bau rumah itu kembali wangi. Tidak sampai 10 menit muka almarhumah kembali normal.
Esok paginya Kakty tidak ikut mengantar jenazah ke kuburan. Tapi mendengar cerita, anaknya membakar sebuah benda milik ibunya. Tapi benda itu tidak terbakar sebab sudah menyatu. Apa yang terjadi dengan benda itu sampai sekarang Kakty tidak tahu.
Tapi memang rumah tetangga Kakty itu memang seram bagi orang luar kampung walaupun hanya memandangnya saja. Tapi bagi para tetangga, kata Kakty, kondisi rumahnya yang demikian itu sudah biasa.
