Munculnya Ya’juj dan Ma’juj terjadi pada masa turunnya kembali Nabi Isa bin Maryam ke bumi, yaitu setelah beliau berhasil membunuh Dajjal.

Ya’juj dan Ma’juj adalah manusia biasa seperti layaknya manusia yang lain. Mereka mirip orang-orang yang sebangsa dengan mereka yaitu bangsa Turki, dengan mata cekung, hidung pesek, berambut pirang, sekalipun bentuk dan warna kulit mereka bervariasi.
Ibnu Katsir mengatakan, apabila ada orang yang beranggapan bahwa Ya’juj dan Ma’juj itu diantaranya ada yang badannya tinggi seperti pohon kurma, ada pula yang pendek seperti orang cebol, ada lagi yang bertelinga lebar (yang sebelah bisa untuk berselimut dan yang sebelah lagi bisa untuk bertikar), itu semua adalah mengada-ada tanpa didasarkan kepada ilmu.

Ya’juj dan Ma’juj itu keturunan Nabi Nuh Alaihis Salaam. Mereka adalah anak cucu Yafits bin Nuh, nenek moyang bangsa Turki. Dahulu mereka hidup dimuka bumi seperti layaknya manusia biasa, namun mereka selalu membuat keonaran. Oleh karena itu mereka dikurung oleh Nabi Dzulqarnain dibalik dinding penghalang yang dibuatnya (QS. Al-Kahfi :92-99), sampai tiba waktu janji Allah untuk membuka penghalang itu, dan peristiwa tersebut merupakan sebagaian tanda-tanda besar mendekatnya hari kiamat.

Dalil tentang keluarnya Ya’juj dan MA’juj terdapat dalam Al-Qur’an yaitu Surat Al-Anbiyaa :96-97 dan Surat Al-Kahfi :92-99.
Tatkala datang waktu yang telah ditetapkan, dan Hari Kiamat telah dekat, benteng penghalang mereka ini akan hancur, sehingga dengan cepat Ya’juj dan Ma’juj akan keluar dengan rombongan besar dan tidak dapat dihentikan oleh siapapun, kemudian mereka berbaur dengan orang-orang dan berbuat kerusakan dimuka bumi.
Umat Islam akan mengobarkan senjata mereka selama TUJUH TAHUN dalam menghadapi Rombongan Ya’juj dan MA’juj ini sebagaimana Hadist yang diriwayatkan oleh At-Tarmidzi bahwasanya Rasulullah Bersabda, “Umat Islam akan mengobarkan anak panah, senjata dan tameng mereka untuk menghadapi kekerasan Ya’juj selama tujuh tahun”.

ISYARAT RASULULLAH TENTANG ADANYA ANCAMAN YA’JUJ DAN MA’JUJ

Dalam shahih Al-Bukhari dan Shahih Muslim ada sebuah hadist riwayat Zainab binti Jahsy : “Bahwa Rasulullah Shalallahu Alaihi wa Sallam tidur disisinya, kemudian beliau terbangun dengan muka memerah seraya bersabda, ‘laa ilaha ilallah, celaka bangsa arab, gara-gara ancaman buruk yang benar-benar telah dekat. Pada hari ini dibuka dinding Ya’juj dan Ma’juj seperti ini – beliau membuka jari telunjuk dan jari tengahnya –  (Dalam riwayat lain disebut : ‘Pada hari ini dibuka dinding Ya’juj dan Ma’juj seperti ini – sambil Rasulullah membuat 70 atau 90 ikatan) –
Zainab bertanya, ‘Ya Rasul Allah, apakah kita akan binasa, padahal diantara kita masih terdapat orang-orang yang saleh?’,
Rasulullah menjawab,’Ya, apabila kejahatan telah merajalela (dalam riwayat lain disebut : ‘Ya, apabila semakin banyak perbuatan keji’).

BAGAIMANA YA’JUJ DAN MA’JUJ KELUAR?

Menurut riwayat Imam Ahmad dari abu Hurairah Radhiyallahu anhu bahwasanya Rasulullah Shalallahu Alaihi wa Sallam bersabda, “Sesungguhnya Ya’juj dan mA’juj melubangi dinding penghalang itu setiap hari, sehingga apabila ia hampir melihat cahaya matahari, berkatalah seseorang kepada mereka,”Pulanglah, dan kembalilah melubanginya esok hari”, maka Allah mengembalikan dinding itu menjadi lebih kuat dari hari sebelumnya.
Lalu mereka kembali pulang, ketika keesokan harinya mereka kembali untuk melubangi dinding itu, mereka mendapati keadaan dinding itu seperti kemarin (tertutup rapat) dan mereka mulai melubanginya lagi, ketika mereka hampir dapat melihat cahaya matahari, maka berkata pula seseorang kepada mereka, “pulanglah, dan kembalilah melubanginya esok hari”. Demikian seterusnya setiap hari mereka datang melubangi dinding itu sampai waktu yang telah ditentukan oleh Allah dan Allah menginginkan mereka datang kepada manusia, dan mereka PASTI akan datang.

Apabila mereka telah keluar, mereka mengeringkan air dan mengurung manusia ke dalam benteng mereka. Manusia-manusia seluruhnya mengungsi ke kota-kota dan ke tempat-tempat yang aman dari jangkauan Ya’juj dan Ma’juj. Apabila mereka menemui sebuah danau, mereka meminum airnya hingga habis, mereka berkata ketika melewati orang lain,”Ini merupakan air yang ada terakhir kali” (Artinya : mereka menghabiskan semua air yang mereka temui hingga tiada bersisa untuk orang lain lagi).
Tidak ada yang mengetahui pasukan Tuhanmu kecuali DIA. Tatkala Ya’juj dan Ma’juj membuat keonaran dimuka bumi, menghabiskan air dan berkata,”Ini merupakan air yang ada terakhir kali”.
Kemudian mereka berjalan sampai gunung Baitul Maqdis, lalu mereka berkata, “Kami telah membunuh siapapun yang ada dibumi, mari kita bunuh siapapun yang ada di langit”. Lalu mereka melemparkan anak panah mereka ke langit, kemudian Allah mengembalikan anak-anak panah mereka kebumi dalam keadaan dipenuhi dengan darah – Sehingga mereka mengira bahwa mereka telah berhasil membunuh penduduk langit
Maka berkatalah mereka ,”Kami berkuasa atas seluruh penghuni bumi, dan kami lebih tinggi daripada penghuni langit”, maka Allah mengirimkan cacing (yang berada dihidung onta dan kambing) dalam langit-langit (mulut) mereka dan membunuh mereka. Dan demi Dzat yang jiwaku berada ditangan-NYA, binatang melata yang ada dibumi sungguh akan penuh dengan lemak (karena kekenyangan) karena daging dan darah mereka”.  – HR.Ahmad, Al-Hakim dan Al-Albani memshahihkannya dalam Shahih Al-Jami’, 2286.

BAGAIMANA YA’JUJ DAN MA’JUJ MATI

Rasulullah bersabda, “ Apabila Allah telah mewahyukan kepada Isa bahwa “Aku telah mengeluarkan hamba-hamba-KU yang tidak akan mampu bagi siapapun untuk memerangi mereka, lalu para hamba-KU akan digiring ke bukit Thur, dan Allah membangkitkan Ya’juj dan Ma’juj, dan dari segala penjuru mereka membuat kerusakan.
Mereka akan melewati suatu danau dan meminum airnya, serta melewati orang lain sambil berkata,”Ini merupakan air yang ada terakhir kali”.

Dan Allah akan menggiring Nabiyullah Isa dan para sahabatnya sampai berada di puncak gunung Tsur yang bagi salah seorang mereka pada saat itu jauh lebih baik dari 100 dinar bagi salah seorang kalian pada masa sekarang. Lalu Isa dan para sahabatnya mengajak manusia kepada Allah (untuk berdo’a memohon pertolongan), sehingga Allah mengirimkan cacing dalam leher mereka (Ya’juj dan Ma’juj), sehingga mereka menjadi mati/binasa.


Lalu Allah menurunkan Nabiyullah Isa (maksudnya menyuruh turun dari puncak gunung Tsur ke daratan) beserta para sahabatnya sehingga (ketika telah sampai didaratan bumi) mereka tidak mendapati sejengkal tempat pun di bumi kecuali telah dipenuhi dengan busuknya bau (bangkai) Ya’juj dan Ma’juj yang saling tindih menindih dan memenuhi semua daratan bumi.

Nabiyullah Isa kemudian menyeru kepada manusia (untuk sekali lagi berdo’a kepada Allah memohon pertolongan), lalu Allah mengirimkan burung seperti leher onta (untuk mengangkuti bangkai Ya’juj dan Ma’juj) dan membawa mereka, serta melemparkan mereka sesuai dengan kehendak Allah”. – HR.Muslim, 18/68-69, Bab Dzikr Ad-Dajjal.

DELEGASI NEREKA

Ya’juj dan Ma’juj adalah manusia biasa dan merupakan keturunan Nabi Nuh Alaihisalaam, yang juga merupakan keturunan Nabi Adam Alaihisalaam.
Dalam sebuah hadist shahih riwayat Al-Bukhari, dari Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri Radhiyallahu Anhu dari Rasulullah Shalallahu Alaihi wa Sallam bersabda tentang keadaan pada hari kiamat :
“Allah Ta’ala berfirman kepada Adam, ‘Wahai Adam’
Adam menjawab,’Saya memenuhi panggilan-MU dan segala kebaikan ada dalam tangan-MU’
Allah berfirman,’Kirimkan delegasi neraka’
Adam bertanya,’Apakah delegasi neraka itu?’
Allah berfirman,’Dari setiap 1000 orang anak cucumu, masukkan 999 orang ke neraka dan 1 orang ke surga’
Ketika itulah beruban rambut seorang anak kecil, dan setiap wanita-wanita yang hamil melahirkan kandungannya,dan engkau melihat orang-orang dalam keadaan mabuk, padahal sebenarnya mereka tidaklah mabuk, tetapi dikarenakan siksa Allah yang keras.”

Para sahabat bertanya,”Lalu, dimanakah yang satu orang itu?”
Rasulullah menjawab,”Sampaikanlah kabar gembira, bahwa Ya’juj dan Ma’juj adalah tebusan bagimu. Sesungguhnya  diantara kalian akan terdapat 1 orang, sedangkan yang 999 orang adalah dari golongan Ya’juj dan Ma’juj - (ini dikarenakan Ya’juj dan Ma’juj berkembang sangat pesat, dan jumlah mereka sangatlah banyak).” – HR.Al-Bukhari, 6/382, Bab Qishshah Ya’juj wa Ma’juj.

“Allahu Akbar” Para sahabat bertakbir.
Rasulullah pun bersabda,”Demi Allah, sesungguhnya aku benar-benar berharap kamu akan merupakan ¼ penghuni surga. Demi Allah, sesungguhnya aku benar-benar berharap kamu akan merupakan 1/3 penghuni surga. Demi Allah, sesungguhnya aku benar-benar berharap kamu akan merupakan ½ penghuni surga”
Maka para sahabat bertakbir lagi. Lalu Rasulullah bersabda pula,”Kamu sekalian ditengah umat-umat lainnya tak lain hanyalah seperti rambut putih pada lembu berwarna hitam, atau seperti rambut hitam pada lembu berwarna putih”. – HR.Ahmad dalam Musnadnya 3/32-33; Al-Bukhari dalam Shahihnya 18/45; Muslim dalam Shahihnya 2/379, 6/210,15/19-21; Abu Daud dalam Sunannya 11/26, 34/2, 37/20; At-Tarmidzi dalam Sunannya 7/13.
