Mahasiswi: apakah ada satu ayat dalam Qur’an yang mewajibkan perempuan berhijab/berjilbab?

Dr. Jassem al-Mutowi’: perkenalkanlah diri anda terlebih dulu

Mahasiswi: saya adalah mahasiswa semester akhir di universitas. Sepengetahuan saya bahwa jilbab tidak diperintahkan oleh Allah. Oleh sebab itu saya tidak berjilbab, namun saya tetap sholat alhamdulillah.

Dosen: baiklah, boleh saya bertanya satu soal kepada anda?
Mahasiswi: silakan.

Dosen: jika saya mengulang-ulang satu makna kepada anda tetapi saya ungkapkan dengan 3 kata yang berbeda, apakah yang anda pahami?

Mahasiswi: hmm maksudnya apa ya?

Dosen: jika saya bilang kepada anda, tolong bawakan ijazah universitasmu, atau bawakan kertas hasil kelulusanmu, atau bawakan surat pernyataan hasil akhir dari universitas, apakah yang anda pahami?

Mahasiswi: saya harus membawa bukti ijazah universitas saya, tak ada ruang bagi saya untuk salah memahami ungkapan bapak, karena memang maksud dari ketiga ungkapan (ijazah, kertas, pernyataan) itu satu makna.

Dosen: nah itulah yang saya maksudkan sebelum ini…!

Mahasiswi: tapi apakah kaitannya ungkapan bapak dengan hijab?
Dosen: sebenarnya Allah gunakan 3 istilah di dalam Qur’an untuk mengungkapkan hijab perempuan.

Mahasiswi: sambil memandang aneh, bagaimana itu bisa?
Dosen: Allah telah mensifatkan pakaian yang menutupi tubuh perempuan dengan istilah hijab, jilbab dan khimar untuk satu makna. Jadi anda pahaminya bagaimana?

Mahasiswi itu terdiam.

Dosen: anda mesti pahami bahwa tema jilbab ini semestinya tidak menimbulkan perbedaan di antara kita seperti halnya 3 ungkapan ijazah untuk makna yang sama kan?

Mahasiswi: bapak telah mengagetkan saya dalam cara berdiskusi seperti ini.

Dosen: sifat pertama, yaitu firman Allah “hendaklah mereka menjulurkan kerudung mereka ke atas juyub tubuh mereka”, kedua, ialah firman-Nya “wahai Nabi katakanlah kepada isterimu, anak perempuanmu, dan istri orang-orang beriman untuk mengulurkan jilbab mereka”.

Ketiga, ialah firman-Nya “jika kamu meminta suatu barang kepada isteri nabi, maka mintalah dari balik hijab”.

Bukankah ini semua menunjukkan wajibnya menutup tubuh perempuan?

Mahasiswi: sungguh bapak telah membuat saya terkejut dengan perkataan ini.

Dosen: baiklah saya jelaskan kepadamu ketiga istilah itu dalam bahasa arab. Khimar adalah kain yang menutupi kepala perempuan, dan menjulurkannya ke atas juyub maksudnya mengulurkannya agar bisa menutupi leher dan dada.

Jilbab adalah kain baju yang luas dan panjang, menutupi lengan tangan dan kepala, seperti baju tradisional Maroko. Hijab adalah tirai penutup.

Mahasiswi: saya bisa memahami bahwa tidak bisa tidak saya mesti berhijab.

Dosen: ya memang demikian wajib. Jika hatimu dipenuhi cinta kepada Allah dan Rasul-Nya, maka ada 2 jenis pakaian.

Pertama, pakaian yang menutupi fisik, sebagai kewajiban mentaati perintah Allah dan Rasul-Nya. Kedua, pakaian yang menutupi roh dan kalbu, jenis ini lebih baik dari yang pertama.

Karena perempuan bisa jadi berjilbab secara fisik, namun ia kehilangan atau lepas dari pakaian takwa.

Yang benar adalah perempuan harus memakai 2 jenis pakaian itu. Hal ini juga berlaku bagi pakaian yang dikenakan laki-laki.
Mahasiswi: dulu saya mengira bahwa hijab tidak disebutkan di dalam Qur’an.

Dosen: tentu saja hijab telah disebutkan di dalam Qur’an dan juga sunnah, serta disepakati oleh seluruh ulama islam.

Kamu harus gemar taqarub kepada Allah dengan mentaati-Nya karena telanjang itu salah satu tujuan syetan untuk menjerumuskan Adam dan Hawa.

Mahasiswi: apa maksud anda?

Dosen: ketika Allah perintahkan Adam dan Hawa memakan buah-buahan sorga, selain satu pohon khuldi, setan langsung membisiki mereka berdua “fa dallaahuma bi ghurur”.

Maka ketika mereka berdua melanggar perintah Allah itu dengan memakan buah khuldi tersingkaplah aurat mereka (lihat surah al-A’raf: 22) itulah tujuan setan agar umat manusia telanjang sempurna.

Oleh sebab itu Adam dan Hawa bertobat dan segera mencari dedaunan besar untuk menutupi aurat kemaluan mereka.
Persoalan pakaian sangat tua seusia penciptaan Adam dan Hawa.
Saya sarankan kamu membaca buku “psikologi pakaian” karena pakaian berpengaruh kepada kepribadian kita.
Mahasiswi: terus terang saya tidak mengira persoalan hijab dan pakaian ini sangat besar sekali.

Dosen: apakah sekarang kamu telah memutuskan untuk berhijab atau berjilbab atau berkerudung?

Mahasiswi pun tersenyum dan berkata: sungguh saya telah pahami pelajaran ini dengan baik, tapii, saya akan berhijab kalau sudah tua kelak…

Dosen: hmm, ternyata kamu berfikir dan berencana yang berkebalikan dengan perintah Allah.

Mahasiswi pun kebingungan, “bagaimana kebalikan”?
Dosen: Allah telah beri keringanan kepada perempuan tua untuk melepas hijabnya dalam firman-Nya di surah An-Nur: 60
Allah meringankan kewajiban berjilbab bagi perempuan tua dengan syarat tidak tabarruj dalam berhias.

Mahasiswi: kalau gitu, kami yang masih muda ini artinya haruslah iltizam wajib mengenakannya. Hehe sambil tersenyum.

Mahasiswi: tentu saja donk..

Dosen: kalau begitu, kenapa dalam sholat wajib dipakai?
Mahasiswi: maaf saya tidak tahu (lalu tersenyum)
Dosen: apakah kamu percaya bahwa Islam memerintahkan perempuan mengenakan pakaian untuk menghadap Allah dalam sholat lalu menyuruh ia gunakan pakaian yang lebih pendek dan minimalis ketika menghadapi manusia di luar solat?
Mahasiswi: ya beda kan, yang satu solat kita sedang beribadah, dan yang satu lagi kita sedang bermuamalah dunia..!
Dosen: benar, solat adalah ibadah, dan ia bagian dari kehidupan kita.

Sementara hidup kita ini seluruhnya adalah ibadah kepada Allah.
Makanya pakaian perempuan di dalam solat itulah pakaiannya di dalam kehidupan ini seluruhnya.
