Bahkan Allah memberi ancaman, orang yang beramal karena motivasi dunia, tidak akan mendapatkan bagian di akhirat,

مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُ فِيهَا مَا نَشَاءُ لِمَنْ نُرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَاهَا مَذْمُومًا مَدْحُورًا (18) وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الْآخِرَةَ وَسَعَى لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُمْ مَشْكُورًا (19(

“Barangsiapa menghendaki kehidupan sekarang (duniawi), maka Kami segerakan baginya di dunia itu apa yang kami kehendaki bagi orang yang kami kehendaki dan Kami tentukan baginya neraka jahannam; ia akan memasukinya dalam keadaan tercela dan terusir. Untuk itu, dalam urusan semacam ini, selayaknya bentuk doanya sifat digantungkan kepada Allah. Karena itulah, dalam berbagai urusan yang penting, Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam mengajarkan kita untuk istikharah.
