Banyak yang bertanya Apakah do’a, bacaan Al-Qur’an, tahlil dan shadaqoh itu pahalanya akan sampai kepada orang mati?
Dalam hal ini ada segolongan yang berkata bahwa do’a, bacaan Al-Qur’an, tahlil dan shadaqoh tidak sampai pahalanya kepada orang mati dengan alasan dalilnya, sebagai berikut:
ﻭَﺍَﻥْ ﻟَﻴْﺲَ ﻟِﻠْﻼِﺀﻧْﺴﻦِ ﺍِﻻَّ ﻣَﺎﺳَﻌَﻰ
“ Dan tidaklah bagi seseorang kecuali apa yang telah dia kerjakan”. (QS An-Najm 53: 39)
Juga hadits Nabi Muhammad SAW:
ﺍِﺫَﺍﻣَﺎﺕَ ﺍﺑْﻦُ ﺍﺩَﻡَ ﺍِﻧْﻘَﻄَﻊَ ﻋَﻤَﻠُﻪُ ﺍِﻻَّ ﻣِﻦْ ﺛَﻼَﺙٍ ﺻَﺪَﻗَﺔٍ ﺟَﺎﺭِﻳَﺔٍ ﺍَﻭْﻋِﻠْﻢٍ ﻳُﻨْﺘَﻔَﻊُ ﺑِﻪِ ﺍَﻭْﻭَﻟَﺪٍ ﺻَﺎﻟِﺢٍ ﻳَﺪْﻋُﻮْﻟَﻪُ
“Apabila anak Adam mati, putuslah segala amal perbuatannya kecuali tiga perkara; shadaqoh jariyah, ilmu yang dimanfa’atkan, dan anak yang sholeh yang mendo’akan dia.”
Mereka sepertinya, hanya secara letterlezk (harfiyah) memahami kedua dalil di atas, tanpa menghubungkan dengan dalil-dalil lain.
Sehingga kesimpulan yang mereka ambil, do’a, bacaan Al-Qur’an, shadaqoh dan tahlil tidak berguna bagi orang mati. Pemahaman itu bertentangan dengan banyak ayat dan hadits Rasulullah SAW beberapa di antaranya :
ﻭَﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺟَﺎﺀُﻭْﺍﻣِﻦْ ﺑَﻌْﺪِ ﻫِﻢْ ﻳَﻘُﻮْﻟُﻮْﻥَ ﺭَﺑَّﻨَﺎﺍﻏْﻔِﺮْﻟَﻨَﺎ ﻭَﻻِﺀﺧْﻮَﻧِﻨَﺎﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺳَﺒَﻘُﻮْﻧَﺎ ﺑِﺎْﻻِﺀْﻳﻤﻦ
“ Dan orang-orang yang datang setelah mereka, berkata: Yaa Tuhan kami, ampunilah kami dan ampunilah saudara-saudara kami yang telah mendahului kami dengan beriman. ”
(QS Al-Hasyr 59: 10)
Dalam hal ini hubungan orang mu’min dengan orang mu’min tidak putus dari Dunia sampai Akherat.
ﻭَﺍﺳْﺘَﻐْﻔِﺮْﻟِﺬَﻧْﺒِﻚَ ﻭَﻟِﻠْﻤُﺆْﻣِﻨِﻴْﻦَ ﻭَﺍْﻟﻤُﺆْﻣِﻨﺖِ
“Dan mintalah engkau ampun (Muhammad) untuk dosamu dan dosa-dosa mu’min laki dan perempuan.” (QS Muhammad 47: 19)
ﺳَﺄَﻝَ ﺭَﺟُﻞٌ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺒِﻰَّ ﺻَﻞَّ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻪِ ﻭَﺳَﻠَّﻢَ ﻓَﻘَﺎﻝَ ﻳَﺎﺭَﺳُﻮْﻝَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪِ ﺍِﻥَّ ﺍُﻣِﻰ ﻣَﺎﺗَﺖْ ﺍﻓَﻴَﻨْﻔَﻌُﻬَﺎ ﺍِﻥْ ﺗَﺼَﺪَّﻗْﺖَ ﻋَﻨْﻬَﺎ ؟ ﻗَﺎﻝَ ﻧَﻌَﻢْ
“Bertanya seorang laki-laki kepada Nabi SAW; Ya Rasulullah sesungguhnya ibu saya telah mati, apakah berguna bagi saya, seandainya saua bersedekah untuknya? Rasulullah menjawab;
yaa berguna untuk ibumu. ” (HR Abu Dawud).
Dan masih banyak pula dalil-dalil yang memperkuat bahwa orang mati masih mendapat manfa’at do’a perbuatan orang lain.
> Ayat ke 39 Surat An-Najm di atas juga dapat diambil maksud, bahwa secara umum yang menjadi hak seseorang adalah apa yang ia kerjakan, sehingga seseorang tidak menyandarkan kepada perbuatan orang, tetapi tidak berarti menghilangkan perbuatan seseorang untuk orang lain.
Di dalam Tafsir ath-Thobari jilid 9 juz 27 dijelaskan bahwa ayat tersebut diturunkan tatkala Walid ibnu Mughirah masuk Islam diejek oleh orang musyrik, dan orang musyrik tadi berkata;
“ Kalau engkau kembali kepada agama kami dan memberi uang kepada kami, kami yang menanggung siksaanmu di akherat ”.
Maka Allah SWT menurunkan ayat di atas yang menunjukkan bahwa seseorang tidak bisa menanggung dosa orang lain, bagi seseorang apa yang telah dikerjakan, bukan berarti
menghilangkan pekerjaan seseorang untuk orang lain, seperti do’a kepada orang mati dan lain-lainnya.
Dalam Tafsir ath-Thobari juga dijelaskan, dari sahabat ibnu Abbas; bahwa ayat tersebut telah di- mansukh atau digantikan hukumnya:
ﻋَﻦِ ﺍﺑْﻨِﻰ ﻋَﺒَّﺎﺱٍ: ﻗَﻮْﻟُﻪُ ﺗَﻌَﺎﻟﻰ ﻭَﺃَﻥْ ﻟَﻴْﺲَ ﻟِﻼِﺀﻧْﺴﻦِ ﺍِﻻَّ ﻣَﺎ ﺳَﻌَﻰ ﻓَﺄَﻧْﺰَﻝَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﺑَﻌْﺪَ ﻫﺬَﺍ : ﻭَﺍﻟَّﺬِﻳْﻦَ ﺃَﻣَﻨُﻮْﺍﻭَﺍﺗَّﺒَﻌَﺘْﻬُﻢْ ﺫُﺭِﻳَﺘُﻬُﻢْ
ﺑِﺎِﺀْﻳﻤﻦٍ ﺃَﻟْﺤَﻘْﻨَﺎﺑِﻬِﻢْ ﺫُﺭِﻳَﺘَﻬُﻢْ ﻓَﺄَﺩْﺧَﻞَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﺍﻷَﺑْﻨَﺎﺀَ ﺑِﺼَﻼَﺡِ ﺍْﻻﺑَﺎﺀِﺍْﻟﺠَﻨَّﺔَ
“Dari sahabat Ibnu Abbas dalam firman Allah SWT Tidaklah bagi seseorang kecuali apa yang
telah dikerjakan, kemudian Allah menurunkan ayat surat At-Thuur; 21. “dan orang-orang yang
beriman, dan yang anak cucu mereka mengikuti mereka dalam keimanan, kami pertemukan anak cucu mereka dengan mereka, maka Allah memasukkan anak kecil ke surga karena
kebaikan orang tua.”
Syaekhul Islam Al-Imam Ibnu Taimiyah dalam Kitab Majmu’ Fatawa jilid 24, berkata: “ Orang yang berkata bahwa do’a tidak sampai kepada orang mati dan perbuatan baik, pahalanya tidak
sampai kepada orang mati, ” mereka itu ahli bid’ah, sebab para ulama’ telah sepakat bahwa mayyit mendapat manfa’at dari do’a dan amal shaleh orang yang hidup .
