Pidato itu memberi kesempatan kepada Saudi dan UEA untuk melancarkan serangan ke Qatar. Trump sendiri seolah juga mendapat kesempatan untuk meredam tekanan pada pemerintahannya -tanpa campur tangan secara langsung- mengingat sifat aliansi AS dengan Qatar serta kepentingannya, terutama karena Doha menjadi tuan rumah pangkalan Angkatan Udara terbesar Amerika di Timur Tengah.
Ketegangan terhadap Qatar mungkin juga memiliki dimensi lain. Riyadh dan Abu Dhabi mulai khawatir tentang sejumlah tempat yang menjadi sorotan di Yaman dan Tanduk Afrika, serta dana besar yang dialokasikan Arab Saudi untuk kebijakan Trump. Di sisi lain, Saudi juga berharap mendapatkan restu presiden AS untuk menaikkan Putra Mahkota Mohammed Bin Salman ke takhta kerajaan.
Arab Saudi dan UEA pernah bersitegang dengan Qatar atas dukungannya terhadap Ikhwanul Muslimin pasca naiknya Muhammad Mursi. Saat itu, Riyadh menarik duta besarnya dari Doha, begitu juga UEA. Itulah mengapa sebuah kampanye berita di internet diluncurkan beberapa hari yang lalu oleh situs web UEA dan Mesir terhadap Qatar. Ini juga menjadi alasan kenapa pihak berwenang di Riyadh dan Abu Dhabi memutuskan untuk memblokir puluhan situs tersebut, termasuk Al-Jazeera.net.
Sekali lagi, munculnya ketegangan ini berasal dari tingkat tertinggi di UEA, termasuk Menteri Luar Negeri Anwar Gargash dan Wakil Kepala Polisi dan Keamanan Publik di Dubai, Dhahi Khalfan. Para pengamat telah mencatat kecemasan UEA yang intens dalam beberapa pekan terakhir mengenai tanggapan Qatar terhadap plot “kudeta Aden” (upaya membagi Aden), yang disambut oleh media UAE dengan serangan ganas terhadap jaringan Al-Jazeera yang berbasis di Doha.
Meskipun posisi Qatar selaras dengan penolakan Arab Saudi terhadap plot tersebut, ada pertanyaan tentang rekening keuangan swasta pangeran mahkota Saudi, yang membuatnya ingin memperkuat kemitraan pribadinya dengan Abu Dhabi.
Beberapa faktor tersebut jika digabungkan mungkin dapat menjelaskan skenario memanasnya hubungan Saudi-UEA terhadap Qatar. Termasuk yang baru saja diputuskan, sejumlah Negara Teluk tersebut akhirnya memutuskan hubungan diplomatik dengan negara beribukota Doha tersebut.(KIBLAT)
