Seperti yang sedia maklum, ramai di antara kita yang agak terkejut dengan hadis ini. Ini kerana ramai di antara kita yang tidak pernah baca malah tidak pernah tahu akan sebuah hadis mengenai warna baju yang dilarang dipakai oleh lelaki. Warna yang dilarang dipakai oleh lelaki mengikut hadis adalah seperti warna Saffron, kuning kunyit dan warna merah.
Berikutan itu, satu soalan telah diajukan kepada pakar hadis iaitu Dr Rozaimi Ramle (LINK). Antara soalannya adalah seperti berikut.

Assalamualaikum Dr. Mohon penjelasan tentang kesahihan hadis hadis berikut mengenai warna baju yang dilarang untuk lelaki.

Dr Rozaimi menjawab:
Waalaikumussalam.
Tidak dinafikan ada perbezaan pandangan di kalangan ulama. Saya memilih pandangan berikut:
1. Merah memang dilarang jika merah sahaja tanpa campur warna lain. Kalau campur tak dilarang.
2. Kuning dan oren dilarang jika dicelup dgn warna dari saffron atau usfur (tumbuhan). Tapi kalau warna tu bukan dari warna tumbuhan ni maka tak dilarang. Larangan ni khas untuk lelaki sahaja

Penjelasan lebih lanjut berkaitan larangan memakai baju merah bagi lelaki
Menurut Dr Rozaimi berkaitan baju merah ulamak ada pelbagai pendapat yakni ada khilaf ulamak. Ada ulamak berpendapat hukumnya harus seperti mazhab Syafie dan sebahagian ulamak Hambali berkata harus pakai merah kerana ada dalam hadis Bukhari Nabi Muhammad SAW pernah memakai baju, selendang dan kain yang ada warna merah yakni bukan merah penuh tapi cuma garisan merah. Manakala ada sebahagian ulamak berkata haram kerana ada hadis riwayat Nasaie mengatakan tak boleh memakai baju merah.
Jadi Dr Rozaimi berpendapat selagi mana merah tu tak penuh yakni merah yang juga bercampur dengan warna lain maka ianya dibolehkan. Contoh seperti jersi pasukan bolasepak Liverpool. Menurutnya larangan ini sebenarnya terkait dengan zaman, kerana pada zaman itu, mereka yang pakai baju merah adalah wanita. Jadi bila pakai baju merah ada unsur tasyabbuh (menyerupai orang lain dalam suatu perkara) dengan orang perempuan iaitu seperti warna merah jambu yang dipakai orang lelaki pada zaman sekarang.
Kesimpulannya Dr Rozaimi menjelaskan hadis ini ada khilaf ulamak, ada ulamak yang membenarkan, ada ulamak yang kata haram, ada ulamak yang kata makruh, ada ulamak yang berpendapat selagi mana merah tidak penuh tidak mengapa dan ada ulamak yang kata ianya terikat dengan zaman maksudnya pada zaman itu lelaki memakai baju warna merah menyerupai perempuan jadi lelaki tidak dibenarkan memakainya.
