Senyumnya seketika memudar, hatinya begitu tercekat, bola matanya yang bening tertumbuk pada sebatang mandolin yang tergeletak disudut kamar. Wanita itu nyaris tak percaya. Ini nyatakah atau hanya fatamorgana? Ya Allah, itu nyanyian? Oh bukan, itu adalah alat musik.
Pikirannya tiba-tiba menjadi kacau. Bagaimanakah sesungguhnya kebenaran ucapan orang tentang lelaki yang kini telah menjadi suaminya. Oh…segala angan-angannya menjadi hampa, sungguh ia amat terluka. Hampir saja air matanya tumpah. Ia berulang kali mengucap istighfar, Alhamdulillah ‘ala kulli halin. “Ya bagaimanapun yang dihadapi Alhamdulillah. Hanya Allah yang Maha Mengetahui segala kegaiban.”
Ia menatap suaminya dengan wajah merah karena rasa malu dan sedih, serta setumpuk rasa kekhawatiran menyelubung. “Ya Allah, aku harus kuat dan tabah, sikap baik kepada suami adalah jalan hidupku.” Kata wanita itu lirih di lubuk hatinya. Wanita itu berharap, Allah akan memberikan hidayah kepada suaminya melalui tangannya.
Mereka mulai terlibat perbincangan, meski masih dibaluti rasa enggan, malu bercampur bahagia. Waktu terus berlalu hingga malam hampir habis. Sang suami bak tersihir oleh pesona kecantikan sang istri. Ia bergumam dalam hati, “Saat ia sudah berganti pakaian, sungguh kecantikannya semakin berkilau. Tak pernah kubayangkan ada wanita secantik ini didunia ini.” Saat tiba sepertiga malam terakhir, Allah ta’ala mengirimkan rasa kantuk pada suaminya.
Dia tak mampu lagi bertahan, akhirnya ia pun tertidur lelap. Hembusan nafasnya begitu teratur. Sang istri segera menyelimutinya dengan selimut tebal, lalu mengecup keningnya dengan lembut. Setelah itu ia segera terdorong rasa rindu kepada mushallanya dan bergegas menuju tempat ibadahnya dengan hati melayang.
Sang suami menuturkan,
“Entah kenapa aku begitu mengantuk, padahal sebelumnya aku betul-betul ingin begadang. Belum pernah aku tertidur sepulas ini. Sampai akhirnya aku mendapati istriku tidak lagi disampingku. Aku bangkit dengan mata masih mengantuk untuk mencari istriku. Mungkin ia malu sehingga memilih tidur dikamar lain. Aku segera membuka pintu kamar sebelah. Gelap, sepi tak ada suara sama sekali. Aku berjalan perlahan khawatir membangunkannya. Kulihat wajah bersinar ditengah kegelapan, keindahan yang ajaib dan menggetarkan jiwaku. Bukan keindahan fisik, karena ia tengah berada diperaduan ibadahnya. Ya Allah, sungguh ia tidak meninggalkan shalat malamnya termasuk dimalam pengantin. Kupertajam penglihatanku. Ia rukuk, sujud dan membaca ayat-ayat panjang. Ia rukuk dan sujud lama sekali. Ia berdiri dihadapan Rabbnya dengan kedua tangan terangkat. Sungguh pemandangan terindah yang pernah kusaksikan. Ia amat cantik dalam kekhusyu’annya, lebih cantik dari saat memakai pakaian pengantin dan pakaian tidurnya. Sungguh kini aku betul-betul mencintainya, dengan seluruh jiwa ragaku”
Seusai shalat ia memandang kearah suaminya. Tangannya dengan lembut memegang tangan suaminya dan membelai rambutnya.
Masya Allah, SubhanAllah, sungguh luar biasa wanita ini. Kecintaannya pada sang suami, tak menghilangkan kecintaannya kepada kekasih pertamanya, yakni ibadah. Ya, ibadah kepada Allah, Rabb yang menjadi kekasihnya. Hingga bulan kedepan wanita itu terus melakukan kebiasaannya, sementara sang suami menghabiskan malam-malamnya dengan begadang, memainkan alat-alat musik yang tak ubahnya begadang dan bersenang-senang. Ia membuka pintu dengan perlahan dan mendengar bacaan Al-Qur’an yang demikian syahdu menggugah hati.
Dengan perlahan dan hati-hati ia memasuki kamar sebelah. Gelap dan sunyi, ia pertajam penglihatannya dan melihat istrinya tengah berdo'a. Ia mendekatinya dengan lembut tapi cepat. Angin sepoi-sepoi membelai wajah sang istri. Ya Allah, perasaan laki-laki itu bagai terguyur. Apalagi saat mendengar istrinya berdo'a sambil menangis. Curahan air matanya bagaikan butiran mutiara yang menghiasi wajah cantiknya.
Tubuh lelaki itu bergetar hebat, kemana selama ini ia pergi, meninggalkan istri yang penuh cinta kasih? Sungguh jauh berbeda dengan istrinya, antara jiwa yang bergelimang dosa dengan jiwa gemerlap ditaman kenikmatan, dihadapan Rabbnya.
Lelaki itu menangis, air matanya tak mampu tertahan. Sesaat kemudian adzan subuh. Lelaki itu memohon ampun atas dosa-dosanya selama ini, ia lantas menunaikan shalat subuh dengan kehusyuan yang belum pernah dilakukan seumur hidupnya.
Inilah buah dari do'a wanita shalihah yang selalu memohonkan kebaikan untuk sang suami, sang pendamping hidup.
Beberapa tahun kemudian, segala wujud pertobatan lelaki itu mengalir dalam bentuk ceramah, khutbah, dan nasihat yang tersampaikan oleh lisannya. Ya lelaki itu kini telah menjadi da’i besar dikota Madinah.

Dia juga amat rajin berpuasa, meski sedang bepergian. Wajahnya yang cantik makin bersinar oleh cahaya iman dan ketulusan hatinya. Suatu hari datanglah seorang lelaki untuk meminangnya, konon ia termasuk lelaki yang taat dalam beribadah. Setelah shalat istiharah akhirnya ia menerima pinangan tersebut. Sebagaimana adat kebiasaan setempat, upacara pernikahan dimulai pukul dua belas malam hingga adzan subuh.
Namun wanita itu justru meminta selesai akad nikah jam dua belas tepat, ia harus berada dirumah suaminya. Hanya ibunya yang mengetahui rahasia itu. Semua orang ta’jub. Pihak keluarganya sendiri berusaha membujuk wanita itu agar merubah pendiriannya, namun wanita itu tetap pada keinginannya, bahkan ia bersikeras akan membatalkan pernikahan tersebut jika persyaratannya ditolak. Akhirnya walau dengan bersungut pihak keluarga pria menyetujui permintaan sang gadis.
Waktu terus berlalu, tibalah saat yang dinantikan oleh kedua mempelai. Saat yang penuh arti dan mendebarkan bagi siapapun yang akan memulai hidup baru. Saat itu pukul sembilan malam.
Do'a "Barakallahu laka wa baaraka alaika wa jama’a bainakuma fii khairin" mengalir dari para undangan buat sepasang pengantin baru. Pengantin wanita terlihat begitu cantik. Saat sang suami menemui terpancarlah cahaya dan sinar wudhu dari wajahnya.
Duhai wanita yang lebih cantik dari rembulan, sungguh beruntung wahai engkau lelaki, mendapatkan seorang istri yang demikian suci, beriman dan shalihah.
Jam mulai mendekati angka dua belas, sesuai perjanjian saat sang suami akan membawa istri kerumahnya. Sang suami memegang tangan istrinya sambil berkendara, diiringi ragam perasaan yang bercampur baur menuju rumah baru harapan mereka. Terutama harapan sang istri untuk menjalani kehidupan yang penuh dengan keikhlasan dan ketakwaan kepada Allah.
Setibanya disana, sang istri meminta ijin suaminya untuk memasuki kamar mereka. Kamar yang ia rindukan untuk membangung mimpi-mimpinya. Dimana dikamar itu ibadah akan ditegakkan dan menjadi tempat dimana ia dan suaminya melaksanakan shalat dan ibadah secara bersama-sama. Pandangannya menyisir seluruh ruangan. Tersenyum diiringi pandangan sang suami mengawasi dirinya.
