Dari Abi Musa, dari Rasulillah SAW, sabdanya: "Perumpamaan hidayah dan ilmu yang aku bawa daripada Allah adalah bagaikan hujan yang lebat menimpa bumi; maka ada bahagiannya yang subur dan mudah menyerap air, lalu tumbuhlah pokok dan rumput yang banyak, dan ada pula bahagiannya yang keras hanya menakung air tetapi tidak menyerap, lalu manusia dapat mengambil manfaat daripadanya seperti minum, menyirami dan pengairi tanaman, dan ada pula bahagian yang lain iaitu bahagian tanah yang sama sekali tidak menerima air dan tidak pula tumbuh tanaman (diatasnya). 

Yang demikian itu adalah perumpamaan (untuk) orang yang memahami agama Allah (tafaqquh fid din), dia dapat mengambil manfaat daripada apa yang diberikan oleh Allah kepadaku, lalu ia mengetahuinya dan mengajarkannya (kepada orang lain); dan perumpamaan (untuk) orang yang tidak mengangkat kepala dengan itu; dan (perumpamaan untuk orang) yang tidak menerima hidayah yang telah diturunkan oleh Allah SWT kepadaku". (Hadis Sahih, Muttafaq 'Alaihi) 

SYARAH AL HADIS: 

Baginda Rasul SAW membuat perumpamaan diri beliau yang telah menerima hidayah dan ilmu dari Allah seperti hujan yang lebat, sedangkan sikap umat manusia pula seperti tiga jenis tanah yang berbeza-beza. 

1. TANAH YANG SUBUR : Baginda menyamakan sikap orang yang bersedia mengambil pengajaran yang beliau bawa dan bersungguh-sungguh berusaha memahami dan mendalami urusan agamanya (tafaqquh fiddin), lalu ilmu tersebut diamalkannya dan disebarkannya kepada orang lain, dan dengan demikian dirinya menjadi tenang dan tenteram dan orang lain juga mendapat manfaatnya. Mereka tidak ubahnya seperti bahagian tanah yang menerima air hujan. Tanah tersebut akan menjadi subur dan akan tumbuh diatasnya pohon-pohonan dan rumput yang subur dan berguna untuk makhluk lain. 

2. TANAH KERAS YANG MENAKUNG AIR : Baginda juga mengumpamakan orang yang mahu menerima pengajaran daripada beliau dan disebarkannya kepada orang lain tetapi sayangnya dia sendiri tidak tafaqquh fiddin (tidak berusaha untuk mendalami agamanya) dan tidak mengamalkan ajaran tersebut dalam kehidupannya sehari hari. Manusia jenis ini pula tidak ubahnya seperti bahagian tanah yang keras tetapi berlekuk-lekuk, ia hanya mampu menakung air hujan tetapi tidak menyerap airnya, tidak ada pohon dan rumput yang tumbuh kerana keras permukaannya. Makhluk lain dapat mengambil manfaat daripada air yang ditakungnya itu, samada untuk minum, berwuduk, mandi, berkubang, menyirami tanaman dan lain-lain. Mereka tidak ubah seperti lilin yang menerangi orang lain tetapi memusnahkan dirinya sendiri. 

3. TANAH YANG DATAR LAGI KERAS: Selanjutnya baginda mengumpamakan orang yang menolak ajaran yang beliau bawa dan tidak pula berusaha memahaminya seperti tanah yang keras. Sudahlah tidak mahu menerima air hujan, malahan menakungnya pun tidak. Maknanya selain tidak memberi manfaat kepada orang lain, dirinya juga tidak mendapat manfaat.

 Semoga kita semua termasuk kedalam kelompok pertama iaitu: ‘Alim (berilmu), ‘Amil (beramal), Mu’allim (mengajar orang lain) Kita bersedia menerima apa saja yang datang dari Rasulullah SAW., berusaha sekuatnya untuk mendalami segala selok-belok ajaran baginda , mengamalkannya dalam kehidupan lalu hidayah tersebut kita sebarkan semampu boleh kepadaorang lain supaya kewujudan kita di muka bumi ini memberi manfaat kepada mereka, terutama sekali keluarga dan kerabat sendiri. Jika usaha ke arah itu telah wujud pada seseorang, itu bermakna Allah menghendaki agar dia menjadi orang yang baik. Ini berdasarkan sabda Nabi SAW.: 

Ertinya. Barangsiapa yang Allah inginkan agar d ia menjadi orang yang baik, maka Allah akan memahamkannya dalam urusanagama. (Hadis Sahih, Muttafaq 'Alaihi) Orang yang paling mulia disisi Allah adalah orang yang tafaqquh dalam agamanya. Ini berdasarkan sabda Rasul SAW.: Abu Hurairah berkata: Rasulullah SAW pernah ditanya: Siapakah orang yang paling mulia? Jawab baginda: 

Orang yang paling bertaqwa. Kata mereka: Bukan tentang ini yang kami tanyakan. Baginda menjawab: Manusia yang paling mulia ialah Nabi Allah bin Allah Nabi Allah bin Khalil Allah iaitu Yusuf bin Ya'qub bin Ishak bin Ibrahim Kata mereka : Bukan tentang ini yang kami tanyakan. Jawab Nabi saw: Oh kalau begitu, tentang siapakah orang Arab yang paling mulia yang kamu ingin tanyakan kepadaku? Sesungguhnya orang paling mulia dikalangan kamu pada masa jahiliyah, dia jugalah yang paling mulia d iantara kamu di dalam Islam sekiranya dia tafaqquh fiddin. (Hadis Sahih Riwayat Bukhari) 

Dalam hal ini cuba kita renung sejenak tentang Saidina Umar Ibnu Al Khattab RA. Beliau adalah orang yang paling disegani dan paling digeruni semasa jahiliyahnya. Demikian juga setelah beliau memeluk Islam, beliau tetap disegani dan ditakuti hatta oleh syaitan. Apakah rahsianya Saidina Umar Ibnu Al Khattab RA boleh mencapai tahap tersebut? Jawapannya tidak lain ialah kerana beliau benar-benar tafaqquh fiddin. Sungguh banyak pengajaran yang dapat kita ambil daripada kisah beliau. Di antaranya, kisah tentang beliau berkata-kata dengan Hajar Al Aswad, kisah beliau tidak memotong tangan pencuri kerana terlalu fakir, kisah beliau memotong kedua-dua tangan pencuri kerana telah berdusta atas nama Allah, kisah beliau merubah destinasi setelah mendapat berita wabak taun di negeri yang akan dituju, kisah tentang beliau hijrah dan lain-lain. Beliau dikenal sebagai khalifah yang paling adil. Mukmin yang faham agama memang lebih ditakuti oleh syaitan dibandingkan dengan orang yang banyak beribadah tetapi jahil tentang selok belok agama. Ini berdasarkan hadis Nabi SAW.: Ertinya: Seorang Faqih adalah lebih digeruni oleh syaitan daripada seribu orang 'abid (orang yang banyak beribadat). 

Saidina Umar Ibnu Al Khattab RA berkata: Ertinya: Kematian seribu orang yang banyak beribadah malam dan berpuasa siang harinya adalah lebih ringan daripada kematian seorang yang berakal lagi memahami tentang hukum Allah, halalnya dan haramnya. Ibnu Abbas berkata: Para syaitan berkata kepada Iblis: Wahai tuan kami, mengapa kelihatannya tuan sangat gembira dengan kematian seorang 'Alim, tetapi tidak begitu gembira dengan kematian seorang 'Abid ? 

Ibadah yang paling tinggi nilainya di sisi Allah adalah menuntut ilmu Allah Taala. Rasulullah SAW. bersabda: Ertinya: Sebaik-baik agama kamu ialah yang paling mudah, dan sebaik-baik ibadah ialah Al Fiqh (memahami agama). Rebutlah peluang mengaut sebanyak-banyaknya ilmu di bumi lautan ilmu dan para ulama agar peluang yang hadir sekali ini tidak tersia-sia begitu sahaja.
