Jansen Howard, ibu dari seorang putri berusia 11 bulan ini mengunggah sebuah video berdurasi 30 detik di akun facebook-nya yang menampilkan molekul hidup dari air susu ibu di bawah lensa mikroskop. Jansen menyebutnya Cairan Emas yang Hidup.
Ayah Jansen adalah seorang mikroskopist, dan memiliki seperangkat alat mikroskop di rumah untuk memeriksa sel darah ibu Jansen yang menderita kanker. Jansen mengaku ia melakukan hal ini karena rasa ingin tahu.
“Saya mendengar bahwa ASI memiliki antibodi yang bisa berubah komposisinya sesuai kebutuhan bayi. Saya juga membaca sebuah artikel yang menyatakan bahwa ada jutaan sel darah putih dalam setiap tetes ASI,” ujar Jansen menjelaskan alasannya melihat ASI melalui mikroskop.
“Itu sangat indah. Video yang saya unggah tidak bisa menangkap semua warna yang ada dalam ASI, ungu, hijau, perpaduan indah dari gumpalan-gumpalan yang berwarna-warni,” tambahnya.
Karena banyaknya permintaan yang masuk di akun facebook-nya untuk menaruh susu formula di mikroskop, Jansen pun melakukannya. Kemudian mengunggah video perbandingan antara susu formula dan ASI di bawah lensa mikroskop.
Hasilnya, susu formula tampak tidak memiliki sel hidup di dalamnya. Dengan penemuan ini, Jansen merasa lebih bersemangat untuk memberikan ASI eksklusif pada putrinya.

Video tentang keunikan ASI ini telah ditonton oleh jutaan orang dan dibagi ribuan kali. Jansen yang juga merupakan seorang seniman gambar mengatakan senang bisa membagi keindahan dan keajaiban ASI pada semua orang.
Meski demikian, Jansen mengaku bahwa postingannya tersebut bukan sebagai bentuk kampanye anti susu formula. Karena dia sendiri juga menggunakan susu formula sebagai makanan tambahan bagi putrinya.
Apa yang dilakukan Jansen memperkuat hasil riset para ilmuwan yang menyatakan bahwa ASI adalah nutrisi terbaik bagi bayi.
Susu formula memang mengandung nutrisi juga, tetapi tidak memiliki antibodi yang terkandung dalam ASI dan sangat dibutuhkan oleh bayi untuk masa tumbuh kembangnya.
