Mantan bintang serial televisi atau sinetron Pesantren & Rock n' Roll yang tayang pada SCTV, Muhammad Iqbal Azhari meninggal dunia.
Pria asal Bandung, Jawa Barat tersebut menghembuskan nafas terakhir pada Sabtu (30/12/2017), sekitar pukul 10.53 WIB di RS Advent, Bandung.
Nama Iqbal mungkin sudah tidak asing lagi bagi anak muda di Bandung, karena selain bintang sinetron, penampilannya rock and roll, tatoan, dan sebelum meninggal dia hijrah menjadi seorang pendakwah.
Ia juga dikenal sebagai motivator hijrah karena sering mengajak anak-anak muda untuk hijrah menjadi muslim yang lebih baik.
Sebelum hijrah, Iqbal pernah menjadi vokalis band cadas Bandung dan masuk dalam komunitas Hip Hop Bandung.
Tak ayal ia pun menghias tubuhnya dengan gambar tato agar menambah kesan garang.
Semasa remaja, dia punya pengalaman pahit dan pernah diceritakan dia melalui talkshow pada sebuah stasiun televisi.
6 Tahun Tinggalkan Rumah
Sejak kelas 1 SMP atau kelas VII, Iqbal mengaku sudah pergi dari rumah dan memilih tinggal di jalanan.
Iqbal yang saat itu masih remaja harus bertahan dengan kerasnya kehidupan di jalanan.
Ia mau tak mau harus bisa mencari uang dengan cara apapun agar perutnya terisi.
"Awalnya saya suka musik metal dan keras. karena bisa lampiaskan emosi saya. Dan saya dulu sempet gak pulang kelas 1 SMP saya keluar dari rumah," katanya mengungkapkan.
Ia melanjutkan, saat kembali pulang, ternyata orangtua dan keluarganya tak ada di rumah.
Tetangganya memberi tahu kalau keluarganya pindah ke Jakarta.
Ia pun akhirnya memutuskan untuk kembali ke jalanan.
Mulai jadi pengamen, tukang parkir atau apapun ia lakoni agar bisa bertahan hidup.
Selama menjadi anak jalanan, ia tak merasa malu untuk memakan makanan sisa orang-orang.
"Dulu kalau gak ada duit dan lagi lapar. Saya tungguin orang yang makan, pas mereka pergi saya samperin makanan itu lalu saya makan. cuek aja gak ada malu-malunya dulu," katanya.
Bahkan ia juga pernah sampai mengorek tempat sampah pembuangan sisa makanan restoran dan mencari sisa-sisa makanan yang masih bisa dimakan.
Dia juga pernah nyaris menjadi korban geng motor di Bandung.
Setelah lebih dari 6 tahun ia berpisah, akhirnya ia bertemu dengan orangtuanya.
"Saya ketemu setelah nyari 6 tahun. Saya senang, dan saya sempat bilang kalau saya bakal balik lagi ke orangtua saya. Saya salut sama orangtua yang percaya kalau saya orang baik," ujar dia.
Iqbal juga bercerita pada masa lalunya ia juga pernah menjadi seorang pengguna narkoba.
Bahkan ia pernah masuk rumah sakit karena overdosis.
Dan di titik inilah menjadi momen titik balik Iqbal untuk berhijrah.

Setelah keluar dari rumah sakit, Iqbal ternyata diketahui menderita penyakit penyakit liver.
Penyakit liver atau hati adalah istilah yang digunakan ketika hati mengalami gangguan sehingga tidak berfungsi sebagaimana mestinya.
Penyakit itu pula yang dikabarkan mengantar dia kembali ke rumah sakit hingga merenggut nyawanya.
Penyakit liver diderita almarhum kabarnya berada pada stadium 4, yaitu gagal hati.
Pada tahap akhir ini, terjadi kerusakan hati secara menyeluruh sehingga menyebabkan hilangnya fungsi organ ini secara menyeluruh.
Penderita gagal hati memerlukan perawatan khusus untuk meminimalkan risiko kematian.
Meskipun perkembangan penyakit liver dari tahap 1 hingga tahap 3 memerlukan waktu bertahun-tahun, kerusakan hati yang sudah mencapai tahap akhir tidak bisa diperbaiki dan dapat menyebabkan kematian.

Mengetahui Iqbal meninggal, mantan gitaris band metal Betrayer, Derry Sulaiman pun mengungkapkan duka yang mendalam.
Derry adalah sahabat almarhum dalam berdakwah.
Mereka sama-sama hijrah dari gemerlapnya dunia hiburan.

Dia juga pernah nyaris menjadi korban geng motor di Bandung.
Setelah lebih dari 6 tahun ia berpisah, akhirnya ia bertemu dengan orangtuanya.
"Saya ketemu setelah nyari 6 tahun. Saya senang, dan saya sempat bilang kalau saya bakal balik lagi ke orangtua saya. Saya salut sama orangtua yang percaya kalau saya orang baik," ujar dia.
Iqbal juga bercerita pada masa lalunya ia juga pernah menjadi seorang pengguna narkoba.
Bahkan ia pernah masuk rumah sakit karena overdosis.
Dan di titik inilah menjadi momen titik balik Iqbal untuk berhijrah.
