Dalam kunjungan kenegaraan di Pakistan pada Jumat (26/1/2018) Presiden Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) memberikan pidato sambutan di depan Sidang Session of the Parliament.

"Lima puluh lima tahun kemudian, Presiden Republik Indonesia kembali mendapatkan kehormatan untuk berbicara di depan Parlemen Pakistan.
Saya ingin menggunakan kesempatan ini untuk menggelorakan kerja sama kerja sama untuk perdamaian dan kesejahteraan dunia.
Persahabatan Indonesia dan Pakistan ukan persahabatan yang baru terjadi kemarin.
Indonesia tidak akan lupa akan dukungan rakyat Pakistan terhadap perjuangan kemerdekaan Indonesia.
Sebagai wujud penghargaan, pada 17 Agustus 1995, bertepatan dengan perayaan 50 Tahun Kemerdekaan Indonesia, Republik Indonesia menganugerahkan Bintang Kelas 1 Adipurna kepada Bapak Bangsa Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah atas jasa-jasa Almarhum mendukung kemerdekaan Indonesia.
Selain persahabatan banyak sekali kesamaan diantara dua negara kita.
Indonesia dan Pakistan adalah dua negara berpenduduk Muslim yang besar.
Kita sama-sama menjadi negara anggota D-8, sesama negara OKI, sesama negara Non-Blok, kita sama-sama inisiator Konperensi Asia Afrika dan yang tidak kalah penting, kita sama-sama negara demokrasi.
Indonesia juga merupakan dua negara yang terus konsisten mendukung kemerdekaan Palestina.
Melalui Forum ini, saya kembali menyerukan agar kita terus memberikan dukungan bagi Saudara-saudara kita di Palestina. Mari kita terus dukung perjuangan Palestina!," kata Presiden Jokowi.
Selain itu, Jokowi juga mengungkapkan apabila Indonesia merupakan negara dengan penduduk Muslim terbesar di dunia.
Sekitar 87% dari 260 (226,2) juta penduduk Indonesia merupakan Muslim.

Selain memberikan sambutan di depan anggota parlemen, Presiden Jokowi juga menemui warga negara Indonesia (WNI) di Shamandan Hall, Hotel Serena.
Jokowi dan Ibu Negara Iriana kemudian melanjutkan agenda menuju National Assembly of Pakistan pada Jumat malam.
Di sana, rombongan Presiden Jokowi disambut oleh Perdana Menteri Republik Islam Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi serta Ketua Senat dan Ketua Majelis Nasional Pakistan.
Selanjutnya, Presiden Jokowi bersama PM Pakistan menuju tempat menaruh karangan bunga secara bersama-sama.
Pada saat jamuan kenegaraan, Presiden Jokowi dan Iriana disambut oleh Presiden Republik Islam Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain dan Ibu Begum Mahmooda Mamnoon, di Aiwan-e-Sadr, Istana Kepresidenan.
Jamuan kenegaraan yang berlangsung khidmat, hangat dan penuh persahabatan tersebut menjadi akhir dari rangkaian agenda hari pertama Presiden Jokowi dan Ibu Negara Iriana di Pakistan.
Dalam jamuan tersebut, tampak tentara-tentara Paksitan mengiringi dengan memainkan musik Bengawan Solo.
Selanjutnya, pada Sabtu (27/1/2018), Presiden Jokowi dan beberapa pihak akan membahas mengenai sejumlah kerjasama antara kedua negara.
Indonesia dan Pakistan akan membahas beberapa hal terkait kerjasama ekonomi kedua negara hingga nasib Palestina.
