Terinspirasi dari cerpen.co.id, berikut kisah seorang putri arab Saudi berusia 19 tahun di rajam karena pacaran. Tahun 1977, seorang putri Saudi Arabia yang jatuh cinta dengan rakyat awam ini dijatuhi rajam.
Misha’al, putri yang berusia 19 tahun ini jatuh cinta dengan Mulhallal, keponakan duta besar Libanon di Arab Saudi.
Putri Misha’al adalah seorang putri yang gemar belajar. Suatu hari atas izin orangtuanya yang tak lain dan tak bukan adalah Raja Arab Saudi pada masa itu, Raja Khaled, Putri Misha’al pergi kuliah di Amerika. Namun tidak ada yang menyangka hal ini akan berkahir dengan kematian sang Putri.
Putri Misha’al kenal dengan Mulhallal di masa kuliahnya, ia merasa Mulhallal sangat sopan, dan akhirnya mereka berpacaran.
Di liburan musim panas, keduanya pulang ke negara asal dan tetap berkencan sembunyi-sembunyi.
Akhirnya ketahuan dan mereka dituduh melakukan perzinahan.
Keduanya memutuskan kawin lari ke luar negri, putri menyamar seperti pria, tapi akhirnya saat pemeriksaan paspor di be cukai tertangkap, menurut hukum Islam, perzinahan termasuk dosa berat.
Namun tuduhan ini baru berlaku jika ada 4 orang pria sebagai saksi dia melakukan tindakan seks, atau mengaku sendiri di depan pengadilan.
Hukuman dari perzinahan adalah dilempari batu oleh rakyat hingga mati.
Karena putri dan Mulhallal kencan diam-diam, tidak ada saksi mata untuk tindakan seksual, maka keluarganya membujuk putri untuk tidak mengaku, dan berjanji untuk tidak bertemu dengan Mulhallal lagi, demi menghindari masalah, tapi putri menolak. Dia berteriak keras 3 kali, mengaku “Aku berzinah!” dan dihukum rajam.
Kematian keduanya ini tidak dibeberkan ke media massa, tapi katanya salah seorang penghukum menembak kepala putri berkali-kali, dan kekasihnya dihukum rajam, peristiwa eksekusi ini mencengangkan negri Barat.
Setelah kematian putrid an kekasihnya, Raja Khaled mengumumkan 2 perintah:
- Wanita dilarang sekolah di luar negri.
- Wanita dilarang berpergian ke luar negri tanpa ditemani keluarga laki-laki.
Kisah cinta mereka diabadikan oleh Anthony Thomas menjadi sebuah film dokumentasi. Putri jatuh cinta pada rakyat biasa dan dihukum meninggal, tapi setelah 30 tahun, yaitu sekarang, Saudi Arabia masih tetap tertutup, kematian pasangan kekasih ini tidaklah membawa harapan kemajuan bagi negara ini.
Sekiranya kita semua dapat mengambil dari kisah tersebut. Apakah benar atau tidak, hanya Allah SWT yang mengetahui semua rahasia hamba-Nya.
