Banyak hadits shahih yang menunjukkan akan munculnya Al-Mahdi ini. Di antaranya ada hadits-hadits yang secara eksplisit menyebutkan Al-Mahdi dan ada pula yang hanya menyebut sifat-sifat atau identifikasinya saja. Di sini akan kami sebutkan beberapa hadits saja yang kami pandang sudah cukup untuk menunjukkan akan munculnya Al-Mahdi pada akhir zaman yang merupakan salah satu tanda sudah dekatnya hari kiamat.
[1]. Dari Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri Radhiyallahu ‘anhu bahwa Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda :
“Artinya : Pada masa akhir umatku akan muncul Al-Mahdi. Pada waktu itu Allah me-nurunkan banyak hujan, bumi menumbuhkan tumbuh-tumbuhan, memberikan banyak harta (penghasilan), banyak ternak, umat menjadi mulia, dan dia hidup selama tujuh atau delapan tahun.” [Mustadrak Al-Hakim 4: 557-558, dan ia berkata, "Ini adalah hadits yang shahih isnadnya, tetapi Bukhari dan Muslim tidak meriwayatkannya." Dan Adz-Dzahabi menyetujui pendapat Al-Hakim ini. Al-Albani berkata, "Ini adalah sanad yang shahih yang perawi-perawinya terpecaya.” Silsilatul-Ahaditsish-Shalihah 2:336, hadits no. 711. Dan periksa risalah (Thesis) Abdul Alim” Ahaditsul Mahdi Fi Mizanil-Jarhi wat-Ta’dil” halaman 127-128]
[2]. Juga diriwayatkan dari Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri Radhiyallahu ‘anhu, ia berkata : Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:
“Artinya : Aku sampaikan kabar gembira kepada kalian dengan datangnya Al-Mahdi yang akan diutus (ke tengah-tengah manusia) ketika manusia sedang dilanda perselisihan dan kegoncangan-kegoncangan, dia akan memenuhi bumi dengan kejujuran dan keadilan sebagaimana sebelumnnya bumi dipenuhi dengan penganiayaan dan kezhaliman. Seluruh penduduk langit dan bumi menyukainya, dan dia akan membagi-bagikan kekayaan secara tepat (merata).” Lalu ada seseorang yang bertanya kepada beliau, “Apakah yang dimaksud dengan shihah (tepat) ?” Beliau menjawab, “Merata di antara manusia.” Dan selanjutnya beliau bersabda, “Dan Allah akan memenuhi hati umat Muhammad saw dengan kekayaan (kepuasan), dan meratakan keadilan kepada mereka seraya memerintahkan seorang penyeru untuk menyerukan: ‘Siapakah yang membutuhkan harta? Maka tidak ada seorang pun yang berdiri kecuali satu, lalu Al-Mahdi berkata, “Datanglah kepada bendahara dan katakan kepadanya, ‘Sesungguhnya Al-Mahdi menyuruhmu memberi uang. ‘Kemudian bendahara berkata, ‘Ambillah sedikit” Sehingga setelah dibawanya ke kamarnya, dia menyesal seraya berkata, ‘Saya adalah umat Muhammad yang hatinya paling rakus. atau saya tidak mampu mencapai apa yang mereka capai’ Lalu ia mengembalikan uang (harta) tersebut, tetapi ditolak seraya dikatakan kepadanya, ‘Kami tidak mengambil kembali apa yang telah kami berikan.’ Begitulah kondisinya waktu itu yang berlangsung selama tujuh, delapan, atau sembilan tahun. Kemudian tidak ada kebaikan lagi dalam kehidupan sesudah itu. ” [Musnad Ahmad 3: 37. Al-Haitsami berkata, "Diriwayatkan oleh Tirmidzi dan lainnya secara ringkas, dan diriwayatkan oleh Imam Ahmad dengan berbagai sanad, juga diriwayatkan oleh Abu Ya’la dengan ringkas dan perawi-perawinya terpecaya.” Majma’uz Zawaid 7: 313:314. Dan periksalah "Aqidatu ahlis-Sunnah wal-Atsar fi Al-Mahdi Al-Muntazhar" halaman 177 karya Syekh Abdul Muhsin Al-'Abbad)].
Hadits ini menunjukkan bahwa setelah kematian Al-Mahdi akan muncul keburukan dan muncul fitnah-fitnah yang besar.
[3]. Dari Ali Radhiyallahu ‘anhu. ia berkata: Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:
“Artinya : Al-Mahdi itu dari golongan kami, ahli bait. Allah memperbaikinya dalam satu malam. ” [Musnad Ahmad 2: 58 hadits nomor 645 dengan tahqiq Ahmad Syakir yang mengatakan. "Isnadnya shahih." Dan Sunan Ibnu Majah 2:1367. Hadits ini juga dishahkan oleh Al-Albani dalam Shahih Al-Jami' Ash-Shaghir 6: 22 hadits nomor 6611].
Ibnu Katsir berkata, “Allah menerima taubatnya dan memberinya taufiq, memberinya ilham dan bimbingan setelah sebelumnya tidak demikian.” [An-Nihayah fil-Fitan wal-Malahim 1: 29) dengan tahqiq DR. Thaha Zaini]‘
[4]. Dari Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri Radhiyallahu ‘anhu, ia berkata: Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:
“Artinya : Al-Mahdi itu dari keturunanku, lebar dahinya dan mancung hidungnya. la memenuhi bumi dengan kejujuran dan keadilan sebagaimana sebelumnya bumi dipenuhi dengan kezhaliman dan penganiayaan.. la berkuasa selama tujuh tahun.” [Sunan Abu Daud, Kitab Al-Mahdi 11: 375 hadits nomor 4265. Mustadrak Al-Hakim 4: 557 dan dia berkata, "Ini adalah hadits shahih menurut syarat Muslim, tetapi beliau berdua (Bukhari dan Muslim) tidak meriwayatkannya." Adz-Dzahabi berkata. "lmran, salah seorang perawinya, adalah dha'if dan Muslim tidak meriwayatkan haditsnya." Dan mengenai sanad Abi Daud, Al-Mundziri berkata, "Di dalam sanadnya terdapat Imran Al-Qaththan, yaitu Abul 'Awwam Imran bin Dawur Al-Qaththan Al-Bishri, Al-Bukhari menjadikan haditsnya sebagai syahid. dan dia dianggap kepercayaan oleh Affan bin Muslim dan Yahya bin Sa'id Al-Qaththan memujinya dengan baik. Tetapi dia dilemahkan oleh Yahya bin Ma'in dan Nasa'i." (Aunul Ma'bud 11: 37). Adz-Dzahabi berkata dalam Mizanul I'tidal, "Ahmad berkata, 'Saya berharap dia itu baik haditsnya.' Abu Daud berkata, 'Dha'if.' (mizanul I'tidal 3: 26). Ibnu Hajar berkata mengenai Imran, "Dia itu jujur tetapi tertuduh berfaham Khawarij. " (Taqribut-Tahdzib 2: 83). Dan Ibnul Qayyim mengomentari sanadnya Abu Daud demikian. "Jayyid (bagus). " (Al-Manarul Munif: 144 dengan tahqiq Syeh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghadah). Al-Albani berkata, "Isnadnya hassan. [5]. Dari Ummu Salamah Radhiyallahu ‘anha, ia berkata : saya mendengar Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda :
“Artinya : Al –Mahdi itu keturunanku, dari anak cucu Fatimah.” [Sunan Abi Daud : 373; Sunan Ibnu Majah 2: 1368. Al-Albani berkata dalam Shahih Al-Jami’ush Shaghir 6: 22 nomor 6610. "Shahih." Dan periksalah Risalah / Thesis Abdul’Alim tentang "Al-Mahdi" halaman 160].
[6]. Dari Jabir Radhiyallahu ‘anhu, ia berkata: Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:
“Artinya : Isa bin Maryam akan turun, lalu pemimpin mereka, Al-Mahdi, berkata. ‘Marilah shalat bersama kami! ’Isa menjawab, Tidak! Sesungguhnya sebagian mereka menjadi amir (pemimpin) bagi sebagian yang lain sebagai penghormatan dari Allah kepada umat ini. ‘” [Hadits Riwayat Al-Harits bin Abu Usamah dalam musnadnya seperti disebutkan dalam Al-Manarul Munif karya Ibnul Qayyim halaman 147-148, dan diriwayatkan dalam kitab Al-Hawi fi Al-Fatawa karya As-Suyuthi 2: 64. Ibnul Qayyim berkata, "Hadits ini isnadnya jayyid (bagus). " Dan dishahkan oleh Abdul 'Alim dalam Risalahnya tentang Al-Mahdi halaman 144].
[7]. Dari Abi Sa’id Al-Khudri Radhiyallahu ‘anhu, ia berkata: Rasulullah sShallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:
“Artinya : Dari antara keturunan kami akan ada orang yang Isa Ibnu Maryam melakukan shalat di belakangnya. ” [Riwayat Abu Nu’aim dalam Akhbaril Mahdi sebagaimana dikatakan oleh As-Suyuthi dalam Al-Hawi 2: 64, dan dia memberi tanda dha'if, demikian pula Al-Munawi dalam Faidhul Qadir 6: 17. Al-Albani berkata, Shahih. Periksa: Shahih Al-Jami’ush Shaghir 5: 219 hadits nomor 5796. Abdul 'Alim mengatakan di dalam risalah nya, isnadnya hasan karena syahid-syahidnya." [8]. Dari Abdullah bin Mas’ud Radhiyallahu ‘anhu. ia berkata: Rasulullah Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda:
“Artinya : Tidaklah dunia akan lenyap sehingga negeri Arab dikuasai oleh seorang laki-laki dari ahli baitku (keluarga rumahku) yang namanya sama dengan namaku.’’ [Musnad Ahmad 5: 199 hadits nomor 3573 dengan tahqiq Ahmad Syakir, dia berkata,”Isnadnya shahih.”Dan Tirmidzi 6:485, dan dia berkata, "Ini adalah hadist hasan shahih. Dan dalam riwayat disebutkan dengan lafal:
