Dia adalah murid Khomeini dan punya hubungan yang kuat. Ahmad, putra Khomeini menikah dengan keponakan Musa Sadr. Keponakan Sadr lainnya yang bernama Murtadla Tabatabai menikah dengan cucu Khomeini.
Musa Sadr mendirikan organisasi militan yaitu Pergerakan Syiah Amal di selatan, Beirut dan Beqa’. Organisasi ini bekerja sama dengan pasukan nasional.
Musa Sadr adalah tangan kanan yang bertanggung jawab pada setiap Pasukan Nusairi untuk masuk ke Lebanon. Ketika tentara Nusairi Suriah memasuki Lebanon, maka dia menggantikan mukanya dari seorang negarawan Islam, dengan wajah yang batinnya berupa penjajah. Berikut ini adalah sebagian peran secara singkatnya:
a. Dia memerintah Perwira Ibrahim Shahin untuk keluar dari Pasukan Arab, dan mendirikan Pasukan Garda Depan Lebanon yang setia kepada Suriah, sebagaimana Mayor Ahmed di Lebanon utara membelot dan bergabung dengan Pasukan Nusairi. Pada saat itu Pasukan Arab Lebanon adalah yang terbesar kekuatannya yang bisa menakuti perlawanan. Maka kekuatan itu runtuh karena adanya ancaman bahaya dari dalam, yaitu Ibrahim Sahin dan lainnya. Sadr memerintahkan Pergerakan Syiah Amal untuk berlepas diri dari militer nasional dan bergabung sebagian besar unsurnya pada Pasukan Tempur lalu mulailah menyerang PLO.
b. Pada 5 Agustus 1976, dikutip kantor berita Perancis (AFP) bahwa Al-Sadr menyerukan pertemuan para uskup Ortodoks Yunani, Katolik Roma, kelompok Perlawanan dan sejumlah intelijen daerah Beqa’ dan wakilnya. Pertemuan diadakan di pangkalan udara Riyaq untuk membentuk pemerintah daerah di wilayah yang dikuasai oleh kelompok Nusairi Suriah.
c. Sadr mulai menyerang PLO seperti dikutip oleh kantor berita AFP pada tanggal 12 Agustus 1976, dan menuduh organisasi itu bekerja pada pusat rezim Arab yang berkuasa, terutama kepada Pemerintah Lebanon, dan menyerukan adanya peraturan untuk menghadapi ancaman Palestina.
Musa Sadr mengkhianati Palestina
Pukulan Sadr bagi rakyat Palestina itu sangat menyakitkan, sampai-sampai perwakilan organisasi di Kairo mengeluarkan pernyataan mengutuk sikap Sadr terhadap rakyat Palestina dan persekongkolan dengan kelompok perlawanan dan rezim Suriah.
Musa al-Sadr dan para pengikutnya tidak cukup bekerja sama dengan penguasa Suriah saja, bahkan mereka menuntut penghentian aksi pembebasan dan mengusir warga Palestina dari selatan. Karena itu terjadilah bentrokan, dan Syiah melakukan pemogokan massal di Shaida dan menuntut agar kelompok bersenjata keluar dari Selatan.
Sadr adalah orang pertama yang meminta Pasukan Darurat Internasional ditempatkan di Selatan. Dia mengklaim bahwa ada gencatan senjata Lebanon dengan Israel, maka warga Palestina tidak boleh mengacaukannya.
Seorang perwira Israel berkata: “Hubungan antara Israel dan penduduk Syiah Lebanon tanpa syarat adanya wilayah aman. Sehingga Israel telah mendukung elemen Syiah dan telah dibuat dengan mereka kesepakatan untuk menghilangkan keberadaan Palestina, yang merupakan kepanjangan dari dua unsur yaitu Pergerakan Hamas dan Pergerakan Jihad”.
Kebanyakan pihak yang diajak bekerjasama dengan Sadr adalah: Organisasi Nusairi di Suriah. Dia meminta agar dikeluarkan keputusan hukum bahwa warga Nusairi Lebanon Utara harus syiah, dan diangkat untuk mereka seorang mufti bermazhab Ja’fari! Ketika bapak Hafez al-Assad hendak mati, maka dia memanggil al-Sadr. Sadr akhirnya mentalqinnya sebagaimana orang yang hampir mati ditalqin.
Tidak ada pertempuran satupun yang terlibat di dalamnya Angkatan Darat Arab Lebanon dan Pasukan Lebanon Palestina kecuali di bagian belakang mereka ada dukungan Syi’ah. Misalnya, saat terjadi pertempuran dekat Ba’labak dan Harmala, maka Sulaiman Yahfufi Mufti Ja’fari menghubungi tentara Nusairi dan berjalan di depannya sampai ia masuk memenangkan Ba’labak dan dari sisa kaum muslimin yang ada.
Sadr tidak hanya sampai disitu melakukan tindakan keji tersebut. Bahkan dia pernah menginstruksikan pimpinan Pergerakan Syiah Amal untuk tidak menyerang Kelompok Perlawanan di wilayah Nab’ah dan Shiyah. Ini berarti bahwa dia menyerahkan wilayah Syiah di Beirut kepada Kelompok Perlawanan, dan membiarkan mereka dibunuh dan dan ditawan sesuka mereka. Ia mengatakan: “Senjata adalah hiasan para lelaki, mereka adalah lelaki yang berpengaruh dan kebangkitan mereka tidak akan mati di padang Karbala”.

Penyerangan dimulai pada malam pertama bulan Ramadhan, Senin malam, 20-5-1985. Dimana Milisi Amal menyerbu pengungsi kamp Sabra dan Shatila, dan menangkap semua pekerja di rumah sakit Gaza. Mereka menggiring pekerja dalam keadaan tangan di atas ke kantor Pergerakan Syiah Amal di Daerah Jalul. Pasukan Syiah melarang Bulan Sabit Merah, Palang Merah dan juga mobil ambulan masuk ke dalam tempat pengungsian. Mereka memutus aliran air dan listrik rumah sakit-rumah sakit Palestina.
Pada pukul lima pagi hari Senin, 20 Mei 1985, mulailah Sabra Satila diserang dengan mortir dan senjata modern secara langsung, senjata berkaliber 106 mm. Pada pukul tujuh di hari yang sama, giliran kamp Barajinah dihujani mortir secara massif. Mulailah Pergerakan Syiah Amal menyerang para lelaki, wanita dan anak-anak. Nabih Berri memerintahkan para pemimpin Brigade Keenam Pasukan Lebanon untuk terjun ke pertempuran dan membantu Pergerakan Syiah Amal dalam pembantaian Muslim Sunni di Lebanon. Tidak lama kemudian Brigade Keenam berpartisipasi secara penuh dengan kekuatan yang ada dalam pertempuran dan menyerang kamp Barajinah dari semua arah.
Perlu dicatat bahwa Brigade Keenam, semua anggotanya adalah dari Syiah. 3. Pembunuhan warga Palestina di rumah sakit Beirut. Seorang reporter surat kabar Sunday Telegraph pada tanggal 27 Mri 1985 menyatakan: “Sesungguhnya sekumpulan mayat warga Palestina disembelih lehernya.”
4. Perawat Palestina dibantai di sebuah rumah sakit Gaza, hal itu disebabkan mereka memprotes pembunuhan yang terjadi dihadapan mereka sebelumnya.
5. Kantor berita Asosiated Press menyebutkan dua saksi menyatakan bahwa milisi Pergerakan Syiah Amal mengumpulkan puluhan korban terluka dan warga sipil selama delapan hari semenjak pertempuran di tiga kamp dan akhirnya dibunuh.
6. Kedua saksi tadi mengatakan bahwa mereka melihat anggota Pergerakan Syiah Amal dan Brigade Keenam menewaskan lebih dari 45 warga Palestina, yang diantaranya warga yang terluka di sekitar rumah sakit Gaza.
7.
