Naskah Laut Mati adalah tulisan-tulisan kuno yang menjelaskan tentang ayat-ayat Perjanjian Lama. Naskah Laut Mati disembunyikan oleh komunitas Yahudi sekitar tahun 68 Masehi. Ini berarti sekitar 30 tahun setelah kerabbian Yesus Kristus, jadi kita berharap Naskah Laut Mati akan menerangkan tentang komunitas Yahudi/Kristen pada masa-masa awal. Tapi dalam sebagian besar isinya, Naskah Laut Mati tidak menerangkan banyak hal.

Meskipun begitu, ada sebuah kisah di dalam Naskah Laut Mati tentang seorang guru yang mengajarkan kebaikan tapi ditentang oleh pendeta yang jahat. Pendeta yang jahat ini juga dikenal sebagai pria pendusta, suka mengejek, dan suka memudah-mudahkan sesuatu. Dengan kata lain, seorang pendeta yang menghapus hukum Perjanjian Lama dan memudah-mudahkan hukum itu. Maksudnya adalah dia menolak hukum itu dan menggantinya semaunya. Dan hal ini menarik, karena inilah yang terjadi dengan Bible.

Di dalam Perjanjian Baru, dalam kitab Matius kita lihat bahwa Yesus Kristus berkata “Jangan pernah berpikir bahwa kedatanganku adalah untuk mengubah hukum Taurat, aku datang untuk menggenapinya.” Tapi Paulus menentangnya dan menentang hukum Taurat. Kita lihat pada masyarakat Kristen zaman sekarang, mereka lebih mengikuti Paulus daripada mengikuti ajaran Rabbi Yesus yang mengajarkan dan mengikuti hukum Perjanjian Lama.

Ada bukti yang sangat kuat bahwa pendeta jahat yang memudah-mudahkan sesuatu itu bisa jadi adalah Paulus, sedangkan guru yang mengajarkan kebaikan bisa jadi adalah Yesus, Yakobus, atau murid-muridnya yang lain.

Kita juga harus mempertimbangkan apa pendapat para sarjana Kristen tentang masalah ini. Michael Baigent dan Richard Leigh dalam bukunya yang berjudul The Dead Sea Scroll Deception menjelaskan sebagai berikut:

“Paulus jelas-jelas merupakan orang Kristen yang menyesatkan dan ajarannya yang pada akhirnya menjadi prinsip-prinsip umat Kristen pada masa selanjutnya, adalah penyimpangan yang nyata dari ajaran yang sebenarnya, dan merupakan ajaran yang benar-benar baru.”

Sarjana-sarjana lainnya juga yakin bahwa Naskah Damaskus yang merupakan bagian dari Naskah Laut Mati adalah naskah percakapan Paulus pada masa-masa Kristen awal.

Dan memang ada permusuhan antara Paulus dan Yakobus, antara Paulus dengan Petrus, dan antara Paulus dengan Barnabas. Tertulis di dalam Perjanjian Baru bahwa para murid Yesus memang menentang Paulus. Bacalah Injil Yakobus dan kita akan menemukan bahwa Yakobus mengutuk Paulus dengan kata-kata yang paling pedas pada waktu itu dan menyuruhnya untuk bertobat, tapi Paulus tidak memperdulikannya.

Jadi ini adalah kontroversi yang sangat besar dan kontroversi ini mengancam agama Kristen dan mengancam keselamatan umat Kristen. Jadi ini harus kita pikirkan dengan serius. Aku akan membacakan kutipan dari Naskah Laut Mati

“Hal ini membuat khawatir orang-orang yang beriman karena si pembohong tidak mendengarkan kata-kata yang diucapkan oleh guru kebaikan yang berasal dari firman Tuhan. Naskah Damaskus yang merupakan bagian dari Naskah Laut Mati adalah sesuatu yang dengannya, Tuhan akan menyampaikan hal-hal tersembunyi dimana Israel telah tersesat.”

Bukankah ini tujuan Yesus? Bukankah Yesus yang menyatakan “Dia tidak diutus kecuali kepada domba-domba yang tersesat dari Bani Israel?” Dan kita lihat bahwa Naskah Laut Mati mengucapkan kata-kata yang hampir sama, dimana guru kebaikan akan menyampaikan firman Tuhan dan “menyampaikan hal-hal tersembunyi dimana Israel telah tersesat.”

Menurut Bible, Yohanes Pembabtis dipenjara dan dipenggal di sekitar tahun 34 M. Mengikuti kejadian ini, Yesus Kristus mulai memimpin kaumnya yang bertahan selama 3 tahun. Di akhir kepemimpinannya, orang-orang Roma memburu dan membunuhi murid-muridnya. Mereka yang tidak terbunuh dan berhasil melarikan diri langsung menghilang dari catatan sejarah.

Pada periode ini, murid-murid Yesus diburu untuk dibunuh. Paulus yang juga dikenal sebagai Saul dari Tarsus, tapi lebih dikenal sebagai Rasul Paulus sebenarnya adalah seorang yang menyesatkan, dia adalah anggota dari pendeta Yahudi yang dikutuk Yesus Kristus. Tapi dia adalah seorang yang punya kekuatan karena pandangannya tentang Kekristenan. Karena diduga Paulus bermimpi sehingga masuk Kristen, dia berdalih menyampaikan ajaran Yesus. Meskipun begitu, orang-orang Romawi pada akhirnya menangkap Paulus dan memenjarakannya di sekitar tahun 61 M. Dan diduga bahwa ia dibunuh oleh orang-orang Romawi. Perhatikanlah bahwa kita semakin dekat dengan 68 M.

Yang membuat tahun 68 M menarik adalah kematian Nero. Nero adalah kaisar Romawi yang kelima dan terakhir dalam Dinasti Julio-Claudio. Dia telah membuat rekor paling buruk bagi dirinya sendiri daripada kaisar Romawi manapun. Dia telah melakukan banyak hal buruk yang memalukan dirinya di hadapan dunia luar dan menjadikannya gila.

Dan kita tidak seharusnya terkejut ketika hal ini terjadi pada Nero. Kita tidak seharusnya terkejut bahwa dia adalah orang yang sangat buruk, jika kita melihat pada garis keturunannya. Ibunya adalah saudara perempuannya Caligula. Bukan hanya itu, tapi dia mempunyai hubungan dekat yang tidak biasa dengan Caligula. Setiap orang tahu betapa buruknya Caligula, banyak orang yang tahu bahwa ketika masa Kekaisaran Roma, para Kaisar dan saudari-saudarinya melakukan... Bagaimana caraku mengatakannya? Begitu sering melakukan... Perkawinan sedarah di antara para Kaisar adalah hal yang wajar. Hal ini dianggap sebagai cara mengawetkan darah kebangsawanan. Ada bukti-bukti yang kuat bahwa sebenarnya Nero adalah anak hasil perkawinan sedarah. Dan Caligula yang merupakan ayah Nero juga dikenal karena sifatnya yang sangat buruk. Jadi karena itulah Nero sendiri adalah seorang yang sangat buruk.

Agrippina, ibunya Nero mempunyai ambisi untuk merebut tahta Nero, tapi Nero mempertahankan tahtanya hingga akhirnya dia membunuh semua kerabat dekatnya, termasuk ibunya sendiri dan saudara angkatnya. Ketika ibunya tahu pembunuh bayaran yang mencoba membunuhnya adalah atas perintah anaknya, dia menyuruh pembunuh bayaran itu untuk menikamnya di rahim sebagai hukuman karena rahimnya telah melahirkan Nero yang jahat. Jadi kau bisa bayangkan betapa kisah ini begitu emosional bahkan di antara keluarganya sendiri, begitu luar biasa, kekejaman dan kebiadabannya begitu buruk.

Dan Nero-lah yang menciptakan kebakaran hebat di Roma di tahun 64. Setelah kebakaran hebat di Roma, dia membangun kembali Roma sebagai pusat seni. Dia menyatakan dirinya sebagai penyuka seni. Ini adalah sebuah proyek yang sangat mahal, dia menghabiskan kas Negara, dan dia mulai mencari uang dimanapun dia bisa menemukannya. Salah satu tempat ketika dia mencari uang adalah harta karun di kuil Tanah Suci Yerusalem dan dia mengutus para wakilnya di Yerusalem untuk mengambil harta karun di dalam kuil. Para Yahudi berada di bawah kekuasaan Romawi, mereka ditekan dan diteror, tapi penjarahan harta karun dari kuil Yahudi membuat mereka kehilangan kesabaran.

Pada tahun 66 para Yahudi memberontak melawan Kekaisaran Roma. Pemberontakan Yahudi berlangsung dari tahun 66 hingga tahun 70. Pada tahun 70, kuil Yahudi dihancurkan dan Yerusalem diambil alih oleh Romawi, dan hal ini terus berlanjut hingga tahun 73 ketika perang Masada yang kejam terjadi.

Sekarang kita berada pada tahun 68. Dalam periode ini, Nero mengirim Jendral terbaiknya yang bernama Vespasian untuk menguasai Tanah Suci Yerussalem. Dan Vespasian menaklukkan Tanah Suci Yerussalem dengan teror dan kekejaman. Setiap kota yang didatanginya, dia meminta mereka menyerahkan diri kepada Kekaisaran Romawi, dan jika mereka tidak menyerahkan diri, maka dia membunuh mereka dengan kejam. Dia membunuh para pria, memperkosa dan memperbudak para wanita, memenjarakan mereka dengan anak-anak mereka, menjual mereka sebagai budak, memotong segala buah-buahan yang ada di pohon, membakar semua rumah dan tanaman pertanian, dan merusak tanahnya sehingga mereka tidak dapat bercocok tanam lagi. Semuanya hancur tanpa sisa.

Dan salah satu populasi yang dihancurkan adalah para penjaga Naskah Laut Mati. Dan sekarang kita hanya dapat berspekulasi tentang apa yang terjadi pada masa ini, tapi tampaknya beberapa naskah tersembunyi dalam sebuah gua yang dekat dengan komunitas Yahudi. Dan naskah inilah yang diawetkan hingga mereka ditemukan pada tahun 1947 dan dinamakan Naskah Laut Mati.

Ada begitu banyak drama dan dinamika dalam cerita ini. Jadi tahun 68 adalah tahun yang sangat menarik. Dalam satu sisi, ada Kekaisaran Romawi yang mencoba untuk menambah kas negaranya. Di sisi lainnya, Kekaisaran Romawi berada dalam kekacauan karena satu hal yang tidak kusebutkan adalah... Ketika Nero menjalankan semua hal ini, dia menjadi gila, dia dikucilkan, dan kehilangan tahtanya sebagai seorang kaisar, kemudian dia bunuh diri. Ini terjadi pada Kekaisaran Romawi hingga terjadi pergolakan.

Beberapa tahun berikutnya, empat orang kaisar mencoba untuk menduduki tahta dan hanya satu yang mendapatkannya. Dan dia adalah Vespasian yang kembali sehabis menang perang di Tanah Suci Yerussalem. Tapi pada saat yang sama, Kekaisaran Romawi berada dalam pergolakan. Para Yahudi memberontak bukan hanya terhadap orang-orang Romawi, tapi juga satu sama lain. Ada banyak grup Yahudi, ada ekstremis, ada para penghasut, ada orang-orang sesat, bahkan ada beberapa pembunuh bayaran yang merupakan ninja ala Yahudi. Dan hal ini menyebabkan kekacauan dan menyebabkan terjadinya supremasi di antara populasi Yahudi.

Ketika diserang di tahun 70 M, Yerussalem sudah sepenuhnya siaga untuk menahan gempuran musuh yang paling lama sepanjang sejarah. Yerusalem punya persediaan air dalam bentuk sumur-sumur, punya persediaan makanan yang luar biasa banyak. Yerusalem adalah sebuah benteng di atas bukit yang dapat menahan gempuran yang sangat lama.

Jadi untuk membuat rakyatnya ikut berperang, para ekstremis dari kalangan Yahudi sendiri membakar persediaan makanan. Ketika makanan telah habis, karena kelaparan para Yahudi Yerusalem terpaksa ikut peperangan di luar benteng Yerusalem dan menghadapi orang-orang Romawi, dan hal ini menyebabkan takluknya Yerusalem. Di tengah-tengah kekacauan ini, ada para penjaga Naskah Laut Mati yang bertarung untuk keselamatan mereka sendiri dan bertarung untuk menjaga naskah yang mereka anggap suci dan mereka bersumpah untuk mengawetkannya.
