Para pembenci Islam seringkali seringkali mempertanyakan sesuatu hal yang terkadang membuat umat Islam sedikit sulit menjawabnya. Seperti pertanyaan terkait babi, “Mengapa babi diciptakan jika memang haram? Mengapa babi diciptakan jika memang tidak bisa dimanfaatkan?”

Dalam ajaran Islam hukum haram babi merupakan sesuatu yang sudah final, bahkan untuk menegaskan keharaman babi, Allah berfirman dalam Al-Qur’an berkali-kali. Beberapa surat yang menyatakan keharaman daging babi antara lain surat Al Baqarah 173, Al Maidah 3, Al An’am 145 dan An Nahl 115.

إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةَ وَالدَّمَ وَلَحْمَ الْخِنْزِيرِ وَمَا أُهِلَّ بِهِ لِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ ۖ فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ وَلَا عَادٍ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

Sesungguhnya Allah hanya mengharamkan bagimu bangkai, darah, daging babi, dan binatang yang (ketika disembelih) disebut (nama) selain Allah. Tetapi barangsiapa dalam keadaan terpaksa (memakannya) sedang dia tidak menginginkannya dan tidak (pula) melampaui batas, maka tidak ada dosa baginya. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang. (QS:Al Baqarah 173)

Diharamkan bagimu (memakan) bangkai, darah, daging babi, (daging hewan) yang disembelih atas nama selain Allah, yang tercekik, yang terpukul, yang jatuh, yang ditanduk, dan diterkam binatang buas, kecuali yang sempat kamu menyembelihnya, dan (diharamkan bagimu) yang disembelih untuk berhala. Dan (diharamkan juga) mengundi nasib dengan anak panah, (mengundi nasib dengan anak panah itu) adalah kefasikan. Pada hari ini orang-orang kafir telah putus asa untuk (mengalahkan) agamamu, sebab itu janganlah kamu takut kepada mereka dan takutlah kepada-Ku. Pada hari ini telah Kusempurnakan untuk kamu agamamu, dan telah Ku-cukupkan kepadamu nikmat-Ku, dan telah Ku-ridhai Islam itu jadi agama bagimu. Maka barang siapa terpaksa karena kelaparan tanpa sengaja berbuat dosa, sesungguhnya Allah Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang. (QS:Al Maidah 3)

Katakanlah: “Tiadalah aku peroleh dalam wahyu yang diwahyukan kepadaku, sesuatu yang diharamkan bagi orang yang hendak memakannya, kecuali kalau makanan itu bangkai, atau darah yang mengalir atau daging babi — karena sesungguhnya semua itu kotor — atau binatang yang disembelih atas nama selain Allah. Barangsiapa yang dalam keadaan terpaksa, sedang dia tidak menginginkannya dan tidak (pula) melampaui batas, maka sesungguhnya Tuhanmu Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang“. (QS:Al An’am 145).

Sedangkan untuk menjawab pertanyaan mengapa Allah menciptakan babi, kemudian Allah sendiri yang mengharampaknya, berikut ini jawabanyan.

1. Menjadi Pembelajaran Untuk Tidak Mengikuti Tabiatnya
Sudah diketahui bahwa babi memiliki kesenangan berada di lingkungan yang kotor. Tak hanya itu saja karena babi juga termasuk hewan pemalas dan jorok. Bahkan saking joroknya, babi bisa memakan kotorannya sendiri. Tak jarang babi akan mengencingi dahulu makanannya sebelum disantap.

Dalam hal kerakusan, babi menjadi yang pertama karena apapun yang ada di depannya akan langsung ia lahap, entah itu sampah ataupun kotoran. Bahkan sebagian peneliti hewan mengatakan bahwa demi memuaskan hasrat makannya, terkadang babi akan memuntahkan makanan yang baru ia makan dan memakannya kembali.

Tentu dengan sifatnya yang jorok, malas sekaligus kotor menjadikan kita harus menjauhi segala tabiatnya karena jika tidak, kita sama saja dengan seekor babi.

Babi juga termasuk hewan yang buruk dan telah Allah firmankan dalam Al Quran dimana kaum terdahulu yang membangkang dikutuk oleh Allah menjadi seekor babi.

“Katakanlah (Muhammad), “Apakah Aku akan beritakan kepadamu tentang orang yang lebih buruk pembalasannya dari (orang fasiq) di sisi Allah? Yaitu orang yang dilaknat dan dimurkai Allah, diantara mereka (ada) yang dijadikan kera dan babi dan (orang yang) menyembah thagut. Mereka itu lebih buruk tempatnya dan lebih tersesat dari jalan yang lurus.” (QS Al Maidah 60)

Semoga dengan jawaban ini memperkuat keyakinan kita dan tidak mudah goyah lewat pertanyaan-pertanyaan dari umat yang hanya ingin menghancurkan Islam.

2. Guna Menguji Manusia
Allah terkadang menciptakan sesuatu sebagai bahan ujian bagi manusia apakah akan patuh ataukah melanggarnya. Seperti halnya babi dimana jika orang memakannya, maka ia telah gagal dalam menghadapi ujian tersebut. Namun jika ia berhasil menghindari larangan itu dengan tidak memakannya, berarti ia telah lulus akan ujian yang telah Allah beri.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala telah berfirman:

“Dialah (Allah) yang menciptakan mati dan hidup untuk menguji kalian siapakah di antara kalian yang paling baik amalnya.” (QS Al Mulk 2)

3. Membuat Manusia Layak Menjadi Khalifatullah
Sejak awal, Nabi Adam dijadikan oleh Allah sebagai seorang khalifah di bumi. Arti secara mendalam dari tugas tersebut yakni untuk memakmurkan bumi yang sekarang ini ditempati. Berbagai jenis makhluk hidup maupun hewan yang dianggap tak bermanfaat ternyata menjadikan manusia lebih kreatif dan berkembang secara intelektual. Contohnya saja babi dimana dengan adanya penciptaan babi, membuat manusia mengetahui berbagai bibit penyakit yang dibawa oleh binatang kotor tersebut. Dengan demikian, manusia pun akan berusaha untuk mencari atau meneliti obat terhadap penyakit itu.

Beberapa penyakit yang berasal dari babi diantaranya adalah cacing pita dan flu babi (Swine influenza) yang kini mulai ada obatnya.
