Bagi seorang ibu, anak adalah segala-galanya. Apa pun dilakukan demi masa depan buah hati. Itu pula yang dilakukan oleh ibu dua anak, Yuniati (49), warga Ketandan Kulon, Imogiri, Kabupaten Bantul, DI Yogyakarta.
Dengan bekerja sebagai buruh cuci baju, perempuan kelahiran 6 Juni 1966 ini mampu menyekolahkan anaknya hingga jenjang S-3 di Universitas Hokaido, Jepang.
Dalam segala keterbatasan dana, Yuniati yang dianugerahi dua anak, Satya Candra Wibawa Sakti (29) dan Oktaviana Ratna Cahyani (27), berjuang demi kedua buah hatinya agar bisa menuntut pendidikan tinggi.
“Bagi saya, anak adalah segala-galanya. Jangan sampai mereka seperti saya. Karena itu, mereka harus sekolah tinggi bagaimana pun caranya,” ucap Yuniati saat ditemui di rumahnya, Kamis (10/9/2015).
Yuniati mengaku mulai bekerja sebagai buruh cuci pada tahun 1995. Pekerjaan itu dia lakoni setelah sang suami keluar dari tempat bekerja. Dari penghasilan sebagai buruh cuci dan menyetrika baju inilah Yuniati menyekolahkan kedua buah hatinya.
“Ya, dari hasil mencuci ini saya menyekolahkan kedua anak saya. Pagi, siang, malam, saya mencuci untuk anak,” tutur dia.
Wanita ini juga bertutur, bekerja siang dan malam mencuci baju tidak akan menjadi persoalan selama kedua buah hatinya bisa sekolah. Dia percaya, dengan pendidikan yang tinggi, seseorang dapat mengubah taraf hidupnya.
“Saya tidak ingin anak-anak saya hidup seperti ini. Saya ingin mereka bisa hidup enak,” kata dia.
Bila dihitung secara rasional, penghasilan menjadi buruh cuci yang hanya Rp 250.000 per bulan tak akan cukup untuk membiayai hidup mereka. Namun, Yuniati yakin, dengan kerja keras, segala sesuatu pasti ada jalan keluarnya.
“Saya makan nasi sama daun pepaya enggak apa-apa, yang penting ada biaya untuk sekolah anak. Itu yang terpenting,” kata dia.
Berkat usaha keras Yuniati, Satya Candra Wibawa Sakti bisa menempuh kuliah S-1 di jurusan Kimia Universitas Neger Yogyakarta (UNY), lalu melanjutkan S-2 di jurusan Kimia UGM pada tahun 2008, dan saat ini menempuh jenjang S-3 di Universitas Hokaido, Jepang.
“Sakti selalu dapat beasiswa. Di Jepang ini, dia juga dapat beasiswa dari Dikti,” tutur Yuniati.
Sementara itu, anak kedua Yuniati, Oktaviana, telah lulus dari Akademi Perawat Bethesda. Saat ini, putri keduanya ini bekerja menjadi perawat di Rumah Sakit Harjo Lukito.
“Alhamdulillah, lega. Anak kedua saya sudah lulus dan bekerja. Sakti sebentar lagi lulus dari sekolahnya di Jepang,” ucap dia sambil meneteskan air mata.
Berutang
“Bayar uang kuliah S-1 Sakti Rp 4 jutaan, setengahnya dapat bantuan Dinsos. Setelah itu, Sakti dapat beasiswa,” ucap dia.
Sementara itu, biaya kuliah Oktaviana ialah sekitar Rp 2 jutaaan per bulan. Biaya asrama Rp 600.000 dan satu mata kuliah Rp 90.000. “Kalau dipikir, ya bisa gila bayar sebanyak itu, tetapi harus dijalani,” kata dia.
Demi membayar sekolah kedua anaknya, Yuniati pun terpaksa “buka lubang tutup lubang”. Ia berutang ke beberapa bank. “Semua bank sudah saya coba, mulai dari yang bunganya besar sampai yang kecil. Ini demi masa depan anak,” ucap dia.
Utang ini pun ditanggungnya sendiri. Dia tidak menceritakan usahanya itu kepada kedua buah hatinya. “Saya saja yang tahu, biar mereka konsentrasi belajar saja,” ujar dia.
Sampai saat ini, jika ditotal, dia masih harus membayar utang sekitar Rp 30 jutaan. Beruntung, kedua anaknya terhitung sudah mampu membiayai hidup sendiri sehingga hasil dari mencuci bisa digunakan untuk mencicil utang. “Melihat mereka bahagia dan sukses, saya senang,” kata dia lagi.
