Putri Ally Parker yang bernama Braylynn telah diberi waktu berminggu-minggu untuk hidup dengan sedikit harapan bertahan hidup setelah didiagnosis menderita Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) pada tanggal 6 Desember 2017.

Sementara itu, ayah Ally juga terkena sakit parah dengan Penyakit Motor Neurone.

Ya di foto itu terdapat potret seorang kakek dan cucunya yang sedang melawan penyakit terminal.

Ekspresi wajah keduanya di ranjang rumah sakit mengatakan itu semua.

Ally sekarang menghadapi kemungkinan akan kehilangan ayah dan anak perempuannya sekaligus.

Sampai saat ini, ia telah membuat halaman GoFundMe untuk mengumpulkan biaya pengobatan sebesar 300.000 US Dollar, seperti yang dikutip dari style.tribunnews.com, .

Bertekad untuk menghadapi situasi sulit sambil meningkatkan kesadaran, Ally telah memperbarui berita tentang penderitaan si gadis kecil dan kesehatannya yang memburuk dengan cepat.

Ally mengunggah pesan berikut di Facebook pada tanggal 7 Januari:

“Hari ini akhirnya datang juga. Hari ini akan menjadi hari terburuk dalam hidupku sejauh ini, dan dalam waktu kurang dari seminggu, aku akan memiliki hari yang lebih mengerikan lagi.”

“Hari ini adalah hari dimana setiap orang harus mengucapkan selamat tinggal terakhir mereka, untuk seorang anak berusia lima tahun.”

“Hal ini seharusnya tidak pernah terjadi pada siapapun.”

“Tidak ada seorangpun di dunia ini yang cukup jahat untuk bisa merasakan apa yang saya rasakan saat ini.”

“Gadis mungilku layak menjalani hidup yang penuh dan bahagia, begitu juga setiap anak lain yang harus menghadapi DIPG.”

“Kita harus mengakhiri ini. Tidak ada lagi anak-anak yang terkena penyakit ini dan dibiarkan meninggal karenanya.”

“Kita harus mencari obat untuk menyembuhkannya.”

Dalam sebuah update yang dibagikan pada hari Kamis, 11 Januari, Ally mengatakan masih ada harapan bagi Braylynn karena keluarganya akan bertemu dengan seorang dokter baru yang ‘tidak mau menyerah padanya’.

Ally menulis:

“Kemungkinannya untuk bertahan hidup masih sangat kecil, tapi sekali lagi, kami telah menunjukkan secercah harapan.”

Menurut St. Baldrick’s Foundation, hanya 4 persen dana federal AS yang digunakan dan didedikasikan untuk penelitian kanker pada anak-anak.

Ally Parker berharap, lewat foto ini dan kisah putrinya, ia dapat membantu meningkatkan kesadaran dan menghasilkan lebih banyak inisiatif pendanaan yang didedikasikan untuk menemukan obat penyembuhan.
